Me and my fiancée stayed here as part of our 4 week tour of Europe. The hotel is about a 40 minute walk from the train station. It is situated in a great part of the island to the north looking out at 2 more islands further north of Venice. We payed a little extra for 'a room with a... More

Stayed in Venice for two nights after a week in Rome, this hotel is perfectly located in the 'fondamento nuove' part of Venice. Easy to get to on The water bus from the grand canal and also drops you right outside the hotel! so this was superb as we didn't want to walk far after lots of sight seeing in... More

We stayed in the annexe, July 2015, as a couple and loved it. The room was clean, had a comfortable bed and the air con was fab. Bathroom was small but clean and neat. Breakfast was continental and there was more than enough. The lovely lady that cleaned the rooms and served breakfast was polite, attentive and really helpful. Great... More

Flew into Marco Polo airport, having already booked a water taxi, of which you have at least a 10 minute walk from the airport so make sure you have a trolley or help with your cases. The water taxi is an amazing experience to start your holiday and the views entering the city are fantastic. The taxi brought us almost... More

Even though we were sent to the annex, the room was clean and comfortable. The ac worked great, which we needed because it was almost 100F the two nights we stayed here. We were in walking distance to almost everything and were right near the water bus stops.

We arrived here not expecting much having read the reviews, however, we were pleasantly surprised. It was right at the waterbus stop Fondamente Nove which made coming and going easy. We had room 2 which overlooked the water and was lovely and quiet. The room was small but comfortable and had everything we needed including free wifi. Breakfast was as... More

Booked this through a travel agent. We requested room 4 in Hotel Vecellio but ended up in an annexe 3 blocks away Hotel Picollo, in room 4, we were very disappointed at first but looking back it was extremely quiet, and we slept soundly in the very comfortable bed. We tried the safe, but it didn't work so we trudged... More

This is really a horrible place, the pictures placed in their website DO NOT CORRESPOND TO REALITY ! Both the hotel's manager and the staff are very arrogant and their breakfast is so poor that my friend and I had to go to a bar to have a decent one ! The hotel is not clean and they don't help... We did not have a good experience with this hotel. Firstly our room was in an annexe which was 3 roads away from the main hotel down an alleyway. The room was OK but extremely small. As I was travelling with my daughter we had asked for two single beds and were given a double. The man at reception was... More

One of the worst hotels I stayed in my life. They did not clean the room at the first night. The bathroom is the size of a boat's bathroom. The blanket seems to be very old and dirty. The breakfast has no fruit and no fresh bread. It is not a 3 stars ever!!!

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
