One of the worst hotels I stayed in my life. They did not clean the room at the first night. The bathroom is the size of a boat's bathroom. The blanket seems to be very old and dirty. The breakfast has no fruit and no fresh bread. It is not a 3 stars ever!!!

We stayed at hotel vecellio for two nights on our honeymoon. Staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was a typical venitian style room it was lovely with en suite. Hotel vecellio is close to the vapereto stops which can take you anywhere you want from fondermonte nouve. Venice is the most beautiful place we have been and just... More

Stayed for one night after a cruise as it was easy to access from Allilaguna water taxi from the cruise port and for onward transfer to the airport the following day. We stayed in room 6 on the first floor which was a decent size, had a double and single bed with en-suite shower room. Breakfast was basic but satisfactory... More

Altho this away from the heart (tourist wise) of Venice it's right on the water and 100m from a main ferry stop. This makes it very easy to find your way back to after a day exploring. We had room 5 which was larger than expected and serviced daily

This hotel is good if you are looking for something relatively less expensive (hey, it's Venice!), cosy, good location and with a direct link to the Marco Polo airport (take the Alilaguna and you can reach the airport within 40 minutes). You can walk to San Marco in about 20-25 minutes, so you don't need the waterbus pass unless you... More

Am reviewing on here as we paid to stay at the 3 star Hotel Vecellio although our room was actually in the Annexe which is classed as a guest house. We arrived and were directed to our room a couple of lanes away from the main hotel building. We were booked for 4 nights and were initially disappointed with the... More

We ended up in a little annex they have a few blocks away. It was not easy to find and not easy to enter. Our room was quite small and not attractive. The bathroom was clean and everything was functional. Our safe did not work and the TV did not get any English channels. It was quiet however and we... More

We stayed in this hotel for a three days. Every morning lady came and tidied our room while we were having a breakfast. It was a really simple breakfast you could chose from the yoghurts, prepacked bread, croissants, butter, cheese. You'l get offered a coffee from the machine aswell. Rooms are really small but cosy. Hotel is situated right next... More

We booked this hotel for a break over the Easter break and when we got to the hotel we were told that we were actually staying in an annex a few streets away. Initially I was a bit disappointed as I wanted to stay near the water and I thought that if there weren't enough rooms in the main hotel... More

This was a really nice hotel. Really quaint and small but perfect for just a few days Away. It was really clean and situated very close to the stops for the water taxi to and from the airport so that was a plus getting in really late from our flight. Venice is so small and easy to walk around so... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
