This hotel is located approximately 8 minutes walk from San Marco, 5 minutes to restaurants where the locals eat (very good food/vine to low costs). We booked a two bedroom suite with view over the canal. I must say that this room was much better irl. Old bathroom but it had everything you needed. Breakfast was small but it had... More

The hotel is very well located - walking distance from the central Venice parking lot and 3 minutes from the public *boat* transport which takes you almost everywhere in Venice. Hotel is typically Venice with nice chandeliers and wall/ceiling art. Staff is absolutely a plus as the receptionist helps you with a smile with any questions you may have (including... More

The staff is very friendly and made us feel at home! they provided us maps upon arrival and told us all the great spots to eat :) The hotel was very clean, from the moment we walked in I had a good feeling. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean and rooms were up to date and modern. Venice is... More

To our experience over years the Suite Vendramin is the best place to stay in Venice. The Service by gentile MR. TILLY is PERFECT. By all our travels around the world and throughout decades we could not find a second MR. TILLY.

In spite of a mix up with our booking, the staff were really helpful and managed to sort a room out for us. The hotel was clean, the staff great, a super location within easy walking distance of everywhere. For our last night we had a junior suite that had the best ceiling we had ever slept under!

We had a fabulous 7 night stay in one of the junior suite rooms overlooking the canal. The large room has a high ceiling with a tromp l'oil, french doors overlooking the canal and many the other period details that make for a very special and romantic experience. The hotel staff are very helpful and friendly. The included breakfast spread... More

Tilly and the rest of the staff were certainly wonderfully helpful and went out of their way to make us feel at home. The only complaints I have is that the safe wasn't working (although not the fault of the hotel) and the temperature of the room. When we were there, Venice was unbearably hot and I wished I had... My wife and i have just returned from a 2 night stay in this hotel. Stayed in the economy room behind reception and can't fault it. Window opens out onto the canal aswell. All staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is good to keep you going for most of the day. This is a must stop if you want... More

We have just spent three nights here towards the end of four weeks in Italy. We were very thankful it's in Cannaregio and so a little away from the more crowded parts of Venice, though not so far removed that we could not quickly walk there. I would highly recommend this location if you want to avoid the tourist crush.... More

Our review of this hotel is slightly negative mainly due to the room size, room quality and the location of the room within the hotel. My wife and I spent two nights in late September here and booked through Hotwire and were assigned the 'economy' room. Perhaps a lesson for us in using Hotwire, however the price we paid was... Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
