We stayed in this hotel in the Cannaregio district of Venice, it is situated in a quiet spot yards away from the bustling Strada Nova, one of the main streets in Venice. We found the staff very helpful, they offer useful information regarding restaurants, getting around and food at breakfast. We had a standard room which was fine, it had... More

We stayed for one night, in March. We booked the economy room, and it was no surprise to find that we had the dreaded small behind the check-in desk. We were pleasantly surprised by both the quality and size of the room, and also the spacious bathroom. The staff were really pleasant and helpful, and we had a decent breakfast... More

We came to Venice for Carnivale and specifically chose this hotel in Canereggio to be a bit further away from the center of the city because of the crowds---though close enough to walk or boat by vaporetto to San Marco. Plus there are wonderful restaurants in this neighborhood. The decor is stunning. Both rooms in which we stayed were wonderful.... More

Good location in a more residential area, which we enjoyed. Front desk staff were very helpful and friendly, giving us some excellent recommendations for local restaurants. Our room was spacious and included a balcony overlooking the canal. Breakfast was fine, but nothing special. Would stay again.

We have been at this amazing hotel for 3 days now. We booked the Grand Suite and have the most amazing suite, upstairs at the center front of the hotel. If you look at the pictures, we have the center, above the main door, with 4 double french doors opening to the balcony on the canal. Magnificent room with a... More

We booked this hotel through hotwire and we were not sure what to expect but all our worries immediately disappeared as soon as we walked through the door. The hotel was only a few minutes walk from the vaporetto Ca d'Oro stop and relatively easy to find. It was a perfect location as a base for Venice and we travelled... More

We were guests at the hotel for two nights and enjoyed our stay in quiet room overlooking old gardens. This is a 500 year old Venetian Palace converted into a hotel with large rooms with very high ceilings. The bed was comfortable, the bath very nice, service was great. Breakfast was included and they even had some gluten free rolls... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
