We were two couples and my friend had booked and prepaid a junior suite for two nights. I had booked a standard room. Upon arrival we notified the head receptionist Tilly that my friend can only stay one night and if it is possible to get a refund. He said no, due to the full booking of the hotel. As... More

My husband and I were on our honeymoon recently. Venice, Italy was our 3rd stop. We were very excited to experience our stay at Ca' Vendramin as it was one of the most expensive hotels we had booked for our trip. We were greeted by a polite young lady who assisted us in our check in. She told of us... More

Stayed 3 nights in June with a group of four adults. We managed to book a wonderful suite with canal view (50sqm) and all four of us had plenty of space there. The breakfast was lovely and the coffee was one of the best we've ever had anywhere. Yes, the old palazzo may be a little shabby at places but... More

Paid over £650 for a junior suite for three nights. Was no where near as nice as what we expected. Requested a double bed they confirmed we would have one, arrived to find it was two singles pushed together, air con didn't work because apparently May isn't warm enough even though it was mid 20s and realy stuffy on a... My husband & I stayed at this lovely palace turned hotel for 3 nights prior to a cruise to the Greek Islands. Our room was comfortable & clean, with ample storage, large bathroom, and a view of a courtyard. The air conditioning worked well. The stay includes a breakfast buffet with bacon, eggs, ham, fresh fruit, cereal, pastries, yogurt, etc.... More

When we arrived, we had to stay in a different room to what we initially booked because our room was still occupied by a lady who broke her leg walking out from the hotel. That room was really horrible - no air cond, small tiny window, unbelievably hot. Next day we got moved to our room which was okay I... More

Nice hotel with minor fllaws; Breakfastroom is part of the hall/lounge-area, no possibility of eating outside, and breakfast could be more varied; certainly the bread and buns were no good. Do not be fooled into paying extra for a junior suite which only means there is a staircase within your room between entrance/bathroom and bed-area; no extra floorspace & no... More

We are extremely happy we have chosen this hotel for our honeymoon in Venice. We had a canal view superior room, and it was splendid. The staff at the Hotel were very friendly and helpful. We hope to go babka again

We spent 3 nights here and would stay again. The hotel is a renovated palace with lovely rooms. Ours had a canal balcony. The breakfast is very nice and was included with our room. Special call out to Tilly! This gentleman understands how to take care of guests. He was wonderfully accommodating and took every chance to exceed our expectations.... More

Incredibly upset at the hospitality here... To start off, i emailed them before I arrived and never received a response... At check-in, we couldnt go straight to our room, they wouldn't give us the key without an escort, ok fine. He also brought us to our room without giving us our passports back and left them sitting on the counter... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
