What a gem, This hotel sits right on the water front a few hundred yards from St Marks square, the waterbus and a great view across the lagoon. The hotel was very clean, the room had the décor of old Venetian charm and the staff very friendly and helpful. We would make a return visit and highly recommend this place.

Get the rooms with balcony over lagoon you won't be disappointed. Central to everything, breakfast great, staff very helpful, restaurants to the left and right also close to public gardens.would book again, just a tip the venetians have a rating for the venues on what it offers not how good the decor is.so 5 star may mean location, balcony, ensuit, breakfast but it might not... A very panoramic sight from the windows. However, the room needed a number of repairs. The important thing, though, was that the bed was fine and the bathroom clean. Breakfast was a dismal affair. The receptionist let us know that we were very lucky to be in such a splendid hotel! . In contrast the dark haired receptionist was very... More

Stayed here for 1 night. Wished we could have stayed longer. We got the top floor, and had breakfast delivered to us on the terrace. View was gorgeous. Staff really friendly. Lift is tiny, but stairs were manageable even with luggage. Old Venetian charm sums up the decor. Highly recommend this place.

We went for 3 days in Venice and were very happy with our stay. The hotel was very comfortable and the staff really kind and helpful. We got a free upgrade (after having originally booked a room at B&B Corte Di Dogi, a partner institution). The room had an amazing view of the canal, even if it was noisy until... More

Excellent staff - reception staff had good English and were very helpful. Continental breakfast was good though dining room did get crowded. Large bedroom overlooking the Laguna was well kept with newly refurbished bathroom. Only a few minutes walk from Vaporetto and St Marks Square.

This is a typical Tripadvisor gem! Brilliant location with an amazing view overlooking the entrance to the Grand Canal. 5 minutes from Saint Mark's Square and all vaporetto stops but between tourist and residential areas so lots of quiet places to explore, local restaurants and a co-op shop for supplies. There was a mini bar/fridge in our room so we... More

Upon arrival we were greeted by a man at reception who showed us up to our room and around it. The lobby area is relatively small, and so is the lift. We had the 4th Floor suite which comes complete with King size 4 poster bed, a kitchenette area with wine glasses, beakers, cutlery, kettle, hob, fridge (&minibar), a large... More

I had a room with lagoon view specially requested and was not disappointed. Arrived on the day of the Rendentore Festival and was able to view and photograph the 45 min fireworks show from my window...best seat in the house. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Good location with short walk to St Marks's Square but a bit of... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
