What a shame we only stayed for 1 night. Fabulous location, amazing & friendly hosts, definitely went above & beyond. Very homely & comfortable with fantastic advice from Esmeralda & Mario. Thank you!

Fine location. 20 minute-walking distance with luggage from the train station. Faster if take another boat trip. There are many shops, restaurants and supermarkets nearby. Good service, and the staff took the initiative to provide caring assistance.

Great location in the centre of Venice. Very friendly hospitality by the owners. The know their way and give you good tips around. Nice restaurants around the corner and the rooms are clean and tidy. Original breakfast setting, an unique experience in Venice.

If you want to enjoy the experience of staying in Venice itself, this B&B is an excellent alternative to staying in a $500/night hotel. The rooms are simple but very clean. The air conditioning is quiet and efficient. Some rooms have dedicated bathrooms, others don't. Typical Italian breakfast is served downstairs. The location is really good, not too far from... More

We were very surprised when we arrived and realised that this was somebodies house! However, Mario and Esmeralda were superb hosts, and made our stay in Venice very enjoyable. A lovely BnB with 4 bedrooms - all belonging to their (now grown-up I assume) children. The rooms had air conditioning and a large window and bed. Mario and Esmeralda helped... More

We stayed here a couple weeks ago on our trip to Venice. The location was great. We walked all around the city from the hotel. The staff was very friendly providing a breakfast service every morning where we could ask them for tips on what to see and how to do it. I definitely recommend this bed and breakfast.

Great B&B run by some of the nicest and most helpful people we met in Italy. The rooms were great, the beds comfortable, and the location was wonderful. When we arrived Esmeralda gave us cold water and juice and explained everything we needed to know about Venice. You'll love staying here. Perfect place to stay with family or other large... More

Mario and Esmeralda were great hosts, very accommodating and helpful! They picked us up from the waterbus stop, recommended places to eat and visit in the city, as well as explaining some of the history behind the city, the buildings and the canals. They gave excellent advice regarding the easiest way to access the property and navigate the city, the... More

Staying with Esmeralda and Mario Was a very pleasant experience. The place is cozy and everything worked to perfection. To top it off, Mario mailed us in advance, picked us up, showed us how to get around in Venice and where to find the inexpensive restaurants, where the locals eat - he even offered to post our postcards! Higly recommended... More

Esmeralda and Marco were really hospitable, especially when Esmeralda sat us down to explain Venice, including its brief history, transportation, key points and places and when Marco made sure we had access to breakfast even when we had to leave extra early. The breakfast was simple, including croissants, jam, yogurt, and coffee/tea/juice. The room that we stayed in was right... More

Dear Miss, Thank you very much for the nice comments you wrote about us. I would only like to add that, concerning your arrival in Venice, there is no doubt there has been a misunderstanding when you communicated with my husband Mario. Indeed we NEVER go and pick up guests at the train station. We always give them the information... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
