The Casa Del Melograno is situated in the Carnereggio neighborhood in Venizia (Venice). It's somewhat removed from the more touristy areas and hustle and bustle, but still a convenient 10-15 was to mostly anything. We were checked in by Marco, who is extremely helpful and friendly. After going over the area map and seeing us to our room, he also... More

This hotel is small and friendly and in a remarkably convenient location. It is ten minutes (with luggage) walk from the Guglie stop on the hydrofoil service from the airport and two minutes from a traghetti stop on the Gran Canal. There a many reasonable and a couple of excellent restaurants within five minutes of the hotel too.

We stayed here one night and enjoyed our time. Though it is not a fancy place, everything was clean and ready for us. We were on the main floor so were glad the hotel was located on a back street: you could hear people walking by, though it was not loud enough to bother us. Great location for being tucked... More

Good location, close to the water bus stop and main street. Not easy to find, but the direction instruction from hotel confirmation was very helpful. "Reception desk service is open 8am-8pm" (what they said on my confirmation mail), but you have to ring the bell to check-in. The guy sat behind the desk seemed not very happy to answer your... At first arrival we were confused because we checked in the main hotel but was escorted to a dependent one (I suppose they have 2 separate buildings) so this review will be for the second building. First off, no lift! So be prepared to carry your luggage up a few flights of stairs, lucky enough the receptionist assisted us with... More

we were staying for 3 nights to visit the biennale. The hotel is very well located. easy to access, from vaporetto, by walk, and situated in a great area, with food market, nice restaurants, cafés. The service (breakfast) was simple, but fine, and the staff nice and helpful. The room we were given on the street side was too dark... More

This is a delightful boutique-style hotel, perfect for a short stay. It is ideally situated to access the many interesting sites of Venice, just one minute from a vaporetto stop on the Grand Canal. We found our way to the hotel with ease thanks to the comprehensive directions sent by email. It is in a very good area for restaurants... More

Hi stayed here for 3 nights, we found it very easy to find and within great walking distance to all attractions. Clean and friendly staff. Venice is the walking city and has no cars so be warned, pack light as you have to carry it up and down lots of bridges, but that's wherever you stay!! If I go back... More

Granted hotels in Venice can be expensive, and we all try and get value for money, but sometime it really is worth spending just a little more.My wife and I stayed for four days at this hotel,in September 2014.We paid a bit more to have a room with en suite facilities (only 2 have here) ,The room was clean ,but quite small.It... The location of hotel is really not easy to find, you 'd better to have a GPS function in your handphone. Moreover, the male staff is a bit unfriendly. We arrived in 1pm and found the hotel door finally. We pressed the doorbell and there is no response. So we knocked the door as there is apparently a male staff... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
