I loved this B&B in Venice. It was a 5-7 minute walk to the vaporetto stop (importnat to know if you have heavy luggage). Located near a town square with restaurants, gelato and coffee. The breakfast was served in the charming garden. I would recommend the garden view rooms - so quiet and pretty. It is a nice change from... More

Ideally located and short walking distance from Piazzale Roma. Comfy and spacious room and pleasant backyard. Unfortunately we've been treated quite poorly. Breakfast is not served until 8 (!). As we had to leave at 7:30 we asked if we could have something before leaving and agreed on some yoghurt and fruit. In the morning we found the night porter... More

Great little 8 room hotel right on the canal S. Barnaba. Close to a small square with 2 great restaurants, sandwich shop and produce market. Our room front 2nd floor overlooking small canal, good bed, great bathroom. Continental breakfast out on the patio in their yard, self use of espresso/latte machine. off the major tracks, well witin walking of all... More

Perfectly charming experience. Second floor room overlooking the garden and breakfast patio. The local floating market was just down our small canal. Late afternoon with our bottle of wine in the garden. No long bag drag to the vaporetta stop. Good dining in the area. jhz, Tucson

We got an upper level room with ample bed and bath spaces overlooking the breakfast garden. Location is close to vaporetto stop and other amenities. The little plaza called Santa Barnaba & the nearby gondolier adds a nice touch to the location. As for the negatives, no TV, no coffee in the room and cash only (with no official receipt).

This little hotel is about 5 minutes walk from the Ca' Rezzonico vaporetto station. It is on a side canal and was quiet and peaceful. One of the best parts of the room was the modern, updated en suite bathroom. It appears to be recently renovated and was clean and crisp for a bathroom. Our room overlooked the charming garden.... I would book this place in Venice again. You can walk anywhere on the island from here in a decent amount of time. The staff were very friendly and spoke decent English. The breakfast was fantastic outside in this adorable garden. We even took a siesta break out there a few times in their chairs. The room was fairly big... More

We loved this quaint hotel conveniently located down a side canal off of the Grand Canal just a short walk from the Ca' Rezzonico stop on the Grand Canal. It was centrally located so that we could walk anywhere in Venice and still be only a half-hour or so from the hotel. Yet it was also a bit off the... More

This was the second time we had stayed here, the last time was 3 years ago. Both times we stayed in Camera 1 on the ground floor overlooking the beautiful garden. The room was simple but large and perfectly comfortable. The bathroom has a large shower, unusual for Italy. If you need a hairdryer, take your own. Ask for more... More

This hotel had larger rooms that easily accomodated families. . The rooms for 4 were spacious. Its an old building so you really get that feel for venice. The bathrooms were updated and also a nice size. Easy walk to everything. Breakfast was good. People were nice. I would definitely stay here again.

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
