We stayed here for 5 days and thought it was value for money. The apartment is a great size, decent kitchen (although missing wine glasses..), nice living/bedroom, and good bathroom. Everything was clean and nicely organised. The hostess was very welcoming at the meeting point and showed us some good tips on the map of where to go. We went... More

We saw the suite on the bookings website and fell in love with the venetian look, it also has a very good location. Close to the supermarket, san marco square and the rialto bridge. Easy to reach from the station. And then we got a reservation confirmation but it was a different room from the pictures. Allready reserved and a... More

Positives: Location of the apartment was great, confusing to get to at first but the host meets you which is great. It's in between the Rialto and Sant Angelo. It's clean, simply decorated and the bathroom is modern. Negatives: The host wasn't very prepared; there was no map or recommendations of where to go / eat - this costs nothing... More

We stayed here for 4 nights in September 2013 and it was a lovely apartment. Not sure why it's called a hotel because there are no other rooms and there is no-one on site to ask questions or help or housekeeping. Arrived very late because of airplane delays, but they did get someone to come and lead us to the... More

My sister and I stayed here in March 2011 for 2 nights as part of a "sister trip." After getting on the wrong vaporetto and getting to circle the entire island, we met up with the owner and were sped to the apartment (note, you are renting a suite in an apartment style building). Being 2 young girls, I was... More

Nice apartment in very good location. The kitchen is very well equipped but as they is no supermarket around... Bad point is the mattress, hopefully the owner will do something about it soon since we informed her about it. And a little bit of confusion with heater, tv and keys. Other point is they are actually renovating the building beside... More

I wasn't 100% sure on how this apartment would be, but it was a lovely surprise, the apartment was a good size for the two of us. The location was amazing about a 5min walk from The Rialto bridge and 10 min from San Marco square, this apartment was a nice change to a hotel room where we were able... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
