Good hotel and very clean. We needed a quad room and for Venice its quite affordable. Right next to Accademia bridge so its very easy to ride the vaporetti water bus to the academia stop, walk over the bridge turn left & you are basically there. Very convenient. When we go back to Venice we will stay there. Spartan but... More

We were travelling a bit in Italy and had a nice and pleasant stay in Foresteria Fondzione Levi. - Really central with about 15 minutes to walk to "San Marco" - Friendly and polite Service - very stylish and typical room with enough space and modern bathroom - good and adequate breakfast - Not too easy to find by foot... Located just off ponte academia and only Six minute walk to the alilaguna aero port transfer - these elements cannot be understated when planning your trip to Venezia! We were a famply of four and had a mezzanine style room with large windows overlooking a courtyard. The room was very clean and our rate included quite a nice breakfast of... More

This is not an expensive hotel but its location is excellent and it is easy to locate all the main art galleries and St Mark's square easily. The staff are excellent and extremely helpful regarding advice or in providing anything you may need. The rooms are clean, and simply presented with original wooden beamed ceilings. Our room looked out on a... More

Travelled to beautiful Venice last year. This hotel was booked for us and we were stunned on arrival to find no safes in the room. Keys have to left at an open reception often unattended. We were told we would not need to bother leaving our valuables in the single reception safe. On the last evening returned home after dinner... More

We went in November, off season, and got an excellent rate online. The hotel is in a charming (well actually everything is charming in Venice!) corner right near the Academia Bridge, very easy to get to from the Vaporetto, and close to Piazza San Marco. Our room was quite small but as we didn't spend much time in it, totally... More

The location was great -on the Grand Canal, just over Academia bridge and through a little alleyway into the hotel. From there, we walked everywhere, so it was very convenient. We stayed for 4 nights and there was someone different in the reception every night, so if you asked someone to do something, there was a good chance that the... More

The hotel room was dirty, other than the bathroom which was clean. Lots of spiders and eggs were around the tops of the walls. We woke up with bites. We were given a small discount. Breakfast was very poor. An overall bad experience. The location was the only good thing.

Got a good deal for my stay in Feb 2014 (off season). Stayed in a twin room and the room was big with lots of space. Toilet was pretty big as well. Located in a small alleyway (couldn't find it at first), turn left and cross the first small wooden bridge crossing once you get down from the Academia bridge.... More

Stayed for 2 nights in august 2014. Location is perfect. On the grand canal, a stone throw from academia bridge. 10 minutes from san marco and rialto bridge. Clean rooms, good service. On the minus side, poor breakfast. Just croissant, yogurt and 2 cereals.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
