Location was great and so were the directions to get there. The room however was quite basic as was the breakfast. The staff were friendly but felt overall just didn't have the comfort we were expecting of a hotel, more a B&B.

Excellent location. Staff was very pleasant...we were given the personal run-down of everything in the room when we checked in. Beds were hard...but seems to be the norm in Italy! Room was clean. Breakfast room was cute and set up nicely. Breakfast was adequate for us - toast, fruit, yogurt, cereal etc. We were only there one night and enjoyed... More

Our 'short breaks' tend to be more whistle stop than lounge around so I don't see any point in spending money on hotels with great facilities; I look for somewhere with 'the three c's'; clean, comfy and convenient. This place ticks all these boxes, with the added bonuses that the staff are supremely helpful and the accommodation is thoughtfully done.... More

Dear Mr Ian W, thank you very much for this amazingly detailed (and sparkly) review. It's refreshing (for us this time) to see that all the details we cure, in order to provide a nice experience to our guests, have been noticed and appreciated. The stairs are a problem that all the city face everyday (there are very few buildings... More

The very best bits: the guy on reception, who was charming, helpful, highly amusing and spoke brilliant English. a little rooftop terrace very central location and relatively quiet very cheap items in the minbar (everything 2Euros regardless of whether orange juice or Prosecco! And first item free (I don't normally touch stuff in the minibar but this was too good... More

Dear alchemill, thank you very much for the kind words, and for the special appreciation of our staff =) Next time we will offer you a room with a bigger shower and bed (the room with the private terrace is the tiniest one). The "plasticky mattress protector" it's unfortunately indispensable, considering that we hosts people of all ages and conditions...... More

The hotel is situated just a couple of meters from the Rialto bridge. It's not big but it's cosy and the staff is young and helpful. Breakfast is a bit sparse but it's more than enough. Pity that Venice overall is so expensive. + for hotel - for prices

Dear Björn C, thank you very much for your kind words; they really are appreciated. :) Could we please ask you what didn't you like about our breakfast? We stayed here for a couple of nights. The hotel is very well located and the staff very nice. The breakfast is ok and the room was clean. We had the top floor room with terrace. It is ok but the terrace is hard to access if you are over 1.70m tall, the shower is tiny and the room a... More

The location is AMAZING!! Our first time in venice and we found our way here from the airport with no problem what so ever following the directions received via email from the hotel (which they sent us without request within minutes of booking). Literally steps away from the Rialto Bridge which is worth staying here just based on that. Upon... More

It was a pleasant accommodation, very good situated, close to Plaza San Marco and the shopping area. The room was warm and clean. The stuff was kind and helpful. Great wi-fi. No complains. I truly recomand it.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
