My husband and I stayed here for two nights at the end January for our first visit to Venice. Based on what we've heard from many people, we anticipated getting lost often and since we were arriving at almost midnight, we were sure we would. But the directions that were emailed to us that lead us to their sister hotel... More

My mom and I stayed here from 4-6 Nov 2015. I was so fortunate to have found this BnB. Not only was the price very affordable for a place in San Marco, but also it is strategically located near the Rialto Bridge and very near to the waterbus. It was certainly very easy for us to move around. The guy... More

Excellent B and B for a short stay. Very convenient and quiet location, with good local restaurants. Directions to Leon d'Oro were helpful and easy to follow. Exceptionally helpful staff who booked concerts for us, and spoke good English

We enjoyed this hotel right next to the Ponte Rialto. The staff was very friendly. There were some minor problems (TV) reception followed up right away. The room was comfortable and the price was reasonable considering the location. We enjoyed talking to Alessandro and the other people who spoke English and French.

We loved the central location of Ca' Leon D'oro, the detailed instructions on how to find our way there, and the amazingly warm & friendly welcome we received from Francesco. Unfortunately we were unable to pack him into our suitcases & take him home with us! Alessandro's care in showing us the breakfast routine & coffee machine operation was much... More

When planning for our recent trip to Venice, I searched and searched, and mostly found hotels that were way too expensive, or had poor reviews, or were in an inconvenient location, or seemed run-down. I'm so happy I finally found this property! The Ca' Leon d'Oro is a charming 5-room B&B which enjoys an excellent location in the middle of... More

We appreciated the detailed directions to get to the hotel which we didn't fully appreciate until we got there. The staff were always patient, pleasant and most helpful. The "room at the top" was clean, small but serviceable, and we enjoyed the late afternoon sun on the rooftop deck. The continental breakfast was all that we required. We love to... More

This is such a good find in Venice. Very central, less than a minute to Rialto and the staff were lovely. However this is more hostel than hotel in terms of breakfast and mod cons. No kitchen so no hot or prepared food, just cereal, crossaints, coffee machine, fruit and a mental toaster that no one could figure out! Staff... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
