Nicely placed in between Rialto and San Marco, in a heart of old Venice. Small but charmy hotel, old fashioned, with no elevator. Narrow steep stairs,(huge luggage need some effort) but after you get in, it was O.K. Room with authentic Venetian wall paper decoration. Average size of room, but with everything you need..TV, Air C., renovated washroom. View was... More

The Hotel is in an excellent location near both Rialto and St Marco Square. The room was on the street side, not the canal side and the view was of a wall but that was my error in not requesting a canal side room. (They are larger as well). As we were in Venice pre-Air Con season we slept with... More

What was good: - Great location just few blocks away from St. Marco. Given the price paid vs other places nearby, I expected less. Actually, everything was completely fine: - clean - comfortable bed - decent breakfast (nothing special, but filling and orange juice maker was nice) - Wifi was flawless What I didn't care about: - Stairs, if you... we stayed in this hotel in may 2014, and I can say that this is probably the best place in Venice in terms of combination of quality and price; our room has balcony over the channel and that was amazing, restaurant is definitely one of the best there, very tasty and excellent service (such combination is quite hard to be... Paid 260 euro for 3 nights for a basic room. It was on the 4th floor with no lift, but that is well explained on TripAdvisor, website so we knew - no problems. Good selection at breakfast, rooms/bathrooms perfectly clean and cleaned well each day. Excellent location, 3 mins from Rialto and San Marco. Perfect for a better-than no frills... More

We arrived late at night, and after following the directions from the website (which are very good), we found a welcome letter and our key at reception - no hassle at all. Breakfast provided was lovely - fresh fruit, yoghurt, muesli (very good!), meats, cheese.. All you could want. The wifi worked well throughout the hotel, and was free of... More

Me and my girlfriend stayed for four nights (February 2015) in this hotel and it was perfect from start to finish. The hotel is located 5 minutes from Rialto Bridge and 5 minutes from San Marco Square, we arrived at Rialto and used the map we had been given to locate the hotel, we did think we had gone too... This is a star hotel. Perfect location, right in the middle of where you want to be and within easy access of the main sights. Lots of shops and restaurants within a very close distance. Right by a canal, very pretty if your room is lucky enough to overlook it. Staff were really helpful and friendly. Room was recently decorated... More

The hotel was very nice, spacious and comfortable. Central, short walking distance to most attractions. The staff was very nice and helpful. The breakfast was very good! Cleaning could have been a bit more thorough. My husband did not notice, but there were still pieces from his beard on the sink after the cleaning was done. There were also a... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
