From the second I walked in, Anna greeted me with such warmth that I knew I had found the perfect place to stay. Anna & Alessandra have thought of everything to make your stay absolutely amazing in their hotel. Breakfast is served to you in your room every morning or you can enjoy it on the rooftop terrace. I was... More

Our first trip to Italy/Venice could have gotten off to a really rocky start. The airline had lost our bags. It was raining hard & there we were trying to find our way walking from the airport bus stop to the hotel. But that's when my new superhero, Alessandra, stepped in to save us. She was texting us the directions... More

This hotel has everything going for it. Great hosts who really care about service. Well equipped stylish rooms and lots of little extra touches. And a great location, nicely quiet yet just a minutes walk from lively plazas and restaurants. Breakfast on the roof terrace is the crowning glory and a wonderful way to start your day. All in all,... More

I just got back from Venice AGAIN - I just can't seem to stay away, I love it too much! To make my visit, to this beautiful city, perfection is staying at Ca' San Trovaso. I know I've stayed there when they had just opened which was great....now it's just so nice, tranquil, clean that it makes it even better.... More

When searching for a place to stay in Venice during Carnevale, we wanted to be near the action but not in the action. Ca’ San Trovaso fit that bill. It’s a modern, quiet bed and breakfast in the chic sestiere of Dorsoduro, which is less crowded and more trendy and affordable than San Marco. Everything is nearby – the Vaparetto,... More

Alessandra, charming and friendly, will greet you and explain the area, provide restaurant recommendations, make reservations, etc. The rooms are clean and nice. The bathrooms were totally renovated in a contemporary style. There is a gathering room on the 2nd floor where bottled water is available, as well as tea. The Dorsoduro neighborhood is charming and quiet, fun to explore,... More

We stayed here in March of 2014. The hotel is lovely, clean, fresh and comfortable. I loved the quiet neighborhood and the rooftop terrace. Alessandra was extremely helpful and informative. A welcoming and soothing place, one of the nicest lodging experiences I have had in Italy.

Booked a double room and got offered a free upgrade in arrival to a family room. Being on the ground floor wasn't an issue but the Mosquitos were. Lots of them and even additional spray didn't really help Staff were pleasant and helpful in explaining the area. Location was perfect, quiet yet close to everything

This is our second trip to Venice and there is no other place where we would rather stay than Ca' San Trovaso. Located in a very quiet zone of Venice, a city known for a mega million tourists, We were surprised by the level of quiet and tranquility. The view from the roof top terrace was breath taking. Services provided... More

Very charming B&B on a quiet canal. Easy to get to from San Basilio or Zattere stops on the vaporetto. We did not have any problems communicating in English. Most of my communicating was with Alessandra, who was extremely helpful and always had an answer to my questions. We had a large room overlooking the canal. The room had a... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
