We arrived and the owner was there to greet us. She was helpful with familiarizing ourselves of the City by giving us a map and recommendation on places to eat. The room was clean and they offered great breakfast.

Alessandra greeted us warmly, and was an excellent host. We even met her for a drink by chance while strolling! San Trovaso was beautiful, spacious, and so quiet in busy Venice. We had a great view of a little back canal. It was so nice to see the city come awake from there. Loved it.

We've always been a little underwhelmed with Italy and was a little nervous about Venice as finding accomodation was quite challenging. Everything just seemed expensive, difficult for family groups and full of gold or crimson bedspreads ! Well the great reviews Ca'San Trovaso receives are completely deserved and we are so thrilled we chose this place for our first visit... More

This is a delightful place to stay and I heartily recommend it. The owners are lovely young women with excellent taste. Walking into the air con of our room was a delight. We were in the triple on the first floor and had no problems with mozzies, reported by other reviews. The rooms are tasteful, renovated with good bathroom: instant... More

The hotel (or Casa) is very cosy, charming and functional. The room has everything you need (except TV but we did not need one). Next door there is reading room with coffeemaking facilities and some books you may browse, including guide books. The bed is good and mattress is hard enough, the breakfast is served to the room and it... More

From the second I walked in, Anna greeted me with such warmth that I knew I had found the perfect place to stay. Anna & Alessandra have thought of everything to make your stay absolutely amazing in their hotel. Breakfast is served to you in your room every morning or you can enjoy it on the rooftop terrace. I was... More

Our first trip to Italy/Venice could have gotten off to a really rocky start. The airline had lost our bags. It was raining hard & there we were trying to find our way walking from the airport bus stop to the hotel. But that's when my new superhero, Alessandra, stepped in to save us. She was texting us the directions... More

This hotel has everything going for it. Great hosts who really care about service. Well equipped stylish rooms and lots of little extra touches. And a great location, nicely quiet yet just a minutes walk from lively plazas and restaurants. Breakfast on the roof terrace is the crowning glory and a wonderful way to start your day. All in all,... More

I just got back from Venice AGAIN - I just can't seem to stay away, I love it too much! To make my visit, to this beautiful city, perfection is staying at Ca' San Trovaso. I know I've stayed there when they had just opened which was great....now it's just so nice, tranquil, clean that it makes it even better.... More

When searching for a place to stay in Venice during Carnevale, we wanted to be near the action but not in the action. Ca’ San Trovaso fit that bill. It’s a modern, quiet bed and breakfast in the chic sestiere of Dorsoduro, which is less crowded and more trendy and affordable than San Marco. Everything is nearby – the Vaparetto,... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
