I stayed there with my with my wife for her 50th Birthday the weekend of 2 May.The hotel staff were very helpful and upgraded us for free to a suite for the 2nd night which was a very nice touch. Both rooms were fantastic with many original features. The first room had a fantastic painted ceiling. Both rooms looked out... More

The Hotel Palazzo Vitturi is a really comfortable hotel in a very good position in Venice. The management could not have been more helpful in every way from helping us with suggestions for good, inexpensive restaurants, to lending me money for our water taxi back to the airport when I had my wallet stolen on the Vaporetto, and helping me... Nice hotel with the atmosphere of a Venetian palace. Location is perfect, within walking distance of the major attractions, but still away from the crowd. Staff is friendly and helpful. Recommend to book a deluxe room via the hotel website to have a beautiful large room with balconies facing the Santa Maria Formosa square.

This place is great. Next to San Marco but away from the crowds and hoards of tourists. The junior suite for families is perfect. Clean. Spacious. Functional. Staff is extremely nice. I retrieved a bottle of delicious prosecco because it was our 10th wedding anniversary. Amazing detail (although we did not drink the bottle) The hotel only has 16 rooms... More

Fantastic hotel. Great location we could find our way about very easily. Staff could not have been more helpful. Free bubbly on arrival which was nice. Beautiful glass chandeliers which I loved. Breakfast good and usual for what you get in Italy. I would stay here again ever return to Venice.

Very Good location. By a watertaxi from airport only about 20-30min. to hotel. Taxi can leave you location only about 40 meters from a hotel. Very good if you have for example heavy cases to carry. Rooms and personality also ok. Breakfast good enough. There is a small balcony in first floor which is open for all customers with a... More

We loved the character and charm of this hotel. Beautifully decorated, clean, massive bed, modern bathroom and very friendly staff. Enjoyed a private taxi to Murano for a glass blowing tour, organised by the hotel. Didn't realise the taxi was one way so needed to hop on the water bus for our return, but it wasn't a problem. Great breakfast.... More

Wife and I had a wonderful 50th Anniversary trip including fun in Venice. Palazzo Vitturi was ideal, Located between Rialto and St. Mark's it was an easy walk and safe even after 10pm. Staff helped with concert tickets, restaurant recommendations, as well as just being kind and helpful. Big room, marble bath, plenty of comfort.

We stayed for four nights, the location is fantastic, very convenient for san Marco and the rialto bridge as well as the many and varied restaurants and local chicchetti bars. The hotel staff were both very friendly, helpful and informative. The room was very clean and large by Italian /city centre standards. Although our room was not overlooking the piazza,... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
