I agree with all the nice things people have said about the two sisters that run this hotel. We met them both. Their helpfulness contributed to our great time in Venice. Thank you so much! This hotel is also at an excellent location (just off the Rialto bridge); but may be hard to find the first time. Tip: It is... More

Booked the private room with ensuite. Couldn't believe how big it was! Owners were always good for a chat, extremely helpful and polite and gave us some terrific advice especially on how to get to get to Marco Polo on our departure. Great location just hidden away from the hustle and bustle of the Rialto bridge. No complaints other than... More

This hotel is near Rialto, about 3 minutes walk. My room No. 22 is a spacious one. Very quiet, comfortable and clean. Friendly and helpful staff. I love this hotel because of its location. All the visitors sights are within walking distance and you can take the waterbus everywhere. Two disadvantages: poor wifi speed and No elevator.

My fiancé and I stayed in Venice for two nights at the Hotel San Salvador. We were extremely pleased with our visit. The entire staff was friendly, informative and helpful. They provided us with information about what to see, where to eat and how to save money by avoiding touristy locations. They made an extra effort to let us check... More

This place is in the perfect location for Venice, every signpost in the city points you back to Rialto so you can't get lost, ever. It's also really convenient to get to from the airport and is less than a 10 minute walk from St Mark's square. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms clean and comfortable. I'd definitely... San salvador is a small hotel with great staff. Both the lovely ladies and men working over night were very kind and polite. The location is fantastic right next to the Rialto bridge. The rooms were clean and very spacious. Free toiletries were included, air condition worked well. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting venice

This hotel is perfectly situated...easy to get in so many different directions. The staff is excellent. Willing to be sure that you have what you need, give information as far as what to do, what to see! Very convenient from airport, directions provided very clear. I was traveling alone so reaching there from the airport was easy! Anyone traveling there... More

The Hotel San Salvador went above and beyond our expectations. Considering we booked the hotel on a budget and had read previous reviews we were expecting the room to be very small, so it was a nice surprise to find that it was an average size especially in Venice. As a young couple both security and Internet access were important... More

This hotel is situated right in the center of Venice. It is minutes away from landmarks which makes it convenient to travel. If you are on a short trip to Venice, then this hotel can be a descent choice to quickly cover up the spots and return back to your room. The hotel is also close to water taxi stops... More

My 17 year old son is traveling in Italy and staying mostly in youth hostels. In Venice, at a very busy time, we were able to get a room here for him. The hotel employees, especially Ambra, have been wonderful to communicate with. I didn't stay there myself, and I know it is a modest hotel, but the service and... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
