Tiny room but offset by the lovely ladies that run the hotel. They answered all our questions and gave heaps of suggestions as needed. Hotel is a short walk from the Rialto Bridge so pretty easy to get anywhere you need to. Would stay again.

I can confidently endorse the other positive reviews of this hotel - don't be discouraged by its 'star' rating. It is a gem, mainly due to the wonderful hospitality and central location. After a couple of weeks travelling so far this felt like a stay with family, Ambria and Stefania made sure we were welcome and comfortable at all times.... More

For what you pay, this hotel is definitely worth the stay! Pros: great location right by Rialto and within easy walk of the main sights. The staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful and will tell you all the best places to go and give you helpful tips on the area. The two ladies are very passionate about Venice - and... More

This little hotel has a great location not far from the Rialto bridge. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was not a bad size for Venice. The walls were a bit thin, however, and the staff will provide earplugs if you want. Just one flight of stairs to get to them. The "towels" will shock you, however.... More

If you are looking for a small, quiet hotel in a central location (50 metres from Rialto Bridge), then this is the place for you. Please understand that the hotel is small and doesn't provide breakfast but Ambra and Stefania look after you and are extremely helpful in getting you around Venice. Ambra even suggests that 'getting lost in Venice'... More

The two girls, sister who run the hotel for owner, deserve all the credit. They are welcoming, warm, friendly and very helpful. We knew every am we would be greeted with a smile and same every evening when we returned. They made our stay at this hotel memorable! Hotel is a great location, right near rialto bridge and water bus... More

In the touristy Venice where everything is so expensive, it is so hard to find a centrally located hotel at a reasonable price. The room is small and decorated with some old Venetian-style furniture but it is clean and functional, equipped with a fairly new bathroom. The Owner and the staff of this hotel are all very friendly and accommodating.... More

Initially we had trouble finding this hotel because most maps just don't show the necessary detail. But once we located it, we easily found it again and it's only about 50 metres from Rialto Bridge; a central and very handy location. The staff here were incredibly friendly and helpful - they really could not be faulted. Our room was a... More

Loved our stay at Hotel San Salvador! Awesome location, really close to vaporetto stop at Rialto and close to San Marco and the Doge's Palace. We were instantly pleased with the people working here. We arrived around 9pm and the night guard did not speak English very well, but did his best to get us situated and make recommendations of... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
