Recently stayed at Hotel San Salvador for 2 nights. Everything is on your doorstep or if not within close reach. We were able to catch a Vaporetto to St Marks Square and walk to the hotel that only took 15 or so minutes. Rooms themselves are very clean and cosy with an older style Italian charm to them. Would definitely... More

This hotel was recommended by fellow kiwis. It is run by two lovely sisters. The location is perfect, close to Rialto and central for all main attractions. Very helpful. Would stay there again. Small rooms and lovely and clean.

Apart from being very clean and tidy, this hotel is very close to all the places of interest. However, the highlight are the persons who run the hotel - they are extremely helpful and will do whatever it takes to suggest the best ways to go round Venice. Also, they always have some time to talk to their customers and... More

Really super little hotel. Perfect for a few days in Venice. It's true that the two young ladies who run the place are fantastic. But I must also say that the gentleman who does the night shift is a very kind hearted fellow. I got the feeling nothing would have been too much trouble. The air con worked great thank... More

The hotel is located just a few meters from the rialto ferry station which is a good thing because it is very difficult to drag your luggage in the streets of Venice. The only issue is that there are steps (about 2 flights --15 steps to be exact) that you have to climb to reach the reception. The hotel is... More

I agree with all the nice things people have said about the two sisters that run this hotel. We met them both. Their helpfulness contributed to our great time in Venice. Thank you so much! This hotel is also at an excellent location (just off the Rialto bridge); but may be hard to find the first time. Tip: It is... More

This hotel is near Rialto, about 3 minutes walk. My room No. 22 is a spacious one. Very quiet, comfortable and clean. Friendly and helpful staff. I love this hotel because of its location. All the visitors sights are within walking distance and you can take the waterbus everywhere. Two disadvantages: poor wifi speed and No elevator.

My fiancé and I stayed in Venice for two nights at the Hotel San Salvador. We were extremely pleased with our visit. The entire staff was friendly, informative and helpful. They provided us with information about what to see, where to eat and how to save money by avoiding touristy locations. They made an extra effort to let us check... More

This place is in the perfect location for Venice, every signpost in the city points you back to Rialto so you can't get lost, ever. It's also really convenient to get to from the airport and is less than a 10 minute walk from St Mark's square. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms clean and comfortable. I'd definitely... San salvador is a small hotel with great staff. Both the lovely ladies and men working over night were very kind and polite. The location is fantastic right next to the Rialto bridge. The rooms were clean and very spacious. Free toiletries were included, air condition worked well. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting venice

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
