We just came back from a 4 day visit to Venice and stayed in Ca Dogaressa. Is located near theGiulia stop of the Vaporetta orange line, at a canal and near the Jewish quarter in Canalregio. A 20 minutes walk to San Marco, 5 minutes to the train station ( we had a day in Verona,,went there by train, so... More

Great Find - Walking distance from train, right next to the Jewish Quarter, great breakfast on the canal. Helpful staff. Breakfast got their food from the kosher bakery when we were there, providing some good options for kosher travelers! Only downside was that there was no view from our room (but you can request). Overall a clean place with nice... More

My first experience of Venice was completely enjoyable thanks to the lovely staff of the hotel who were so helpful. Paolo went out of his way to make sure that everything was ok advising us where to go and what to avoid. Would certainly recommend this hotel which is very convenient for the vaporetto stop also there is a shop... More

We stayed for one night here. The room was great, very clean, and a decent size, same goes for the bathroom. Only complaint was the shower which was a bit small, but I think most Italian hotels are like that. Décor was nice. Bed was okay - it was two, somewhat firm, twin beds put together - so the middle... We stayed here for our 30th anniversary & thought the hotel was great. The staff are so friendly & helpful. The rooms are spotlessly clean & a good size. The bathroom was excellent, fresh towels were provided every day. There's free wifi. Everything is within easy walking distance but if you don't like walking, the water taxis stop practically outside... More

Last night we got back from our third visit to Venice and we have stayed at Ca' Dogaressa each time. Everything I've said about it before is still true. It is a (usually) quiet hotel, close to a vaporetto stop and an easy walk from the railway station. We love having breakfast outside, enjoying the morning bustle on the canal.... More

This was my second trip to Venice, and I did a lot of research on hotel options, as we wanted to find something ideally under $200 euro a night, but also in a less touristy neighborhood and within a short walking distance to the train station. We came into Italy by way of the airport, so we also wanted something... More

We stayed at the hotel for a long week-end. A wonderful friendly, family run hotel. Good size rooms for Venice, helpful staff and you can't beat breakfast next to the canal. It was the perfect location for us. Easy access from the airport; 1 minute walk to the vaporetto for all the tourist sights, and a very enjoyable 25 minute... More

Stayed for one night in this lovely hotel last week. The traveler photos do this place no justice! I had low expectations for this place after seeing the photos but I was happily surprised. The room was gorgeous and very big with a lovely bathroom. The bed was huge and very comfortable aswell. I would not say it was loud... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
