We picked this hotel because of the tripadvisor ratings and price. I would definitely stay here again. It was very clean, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and the rooms were comfortable and roomy. The location was easy to get to and find using the Allilaguna water shuttle from the airport. We expected breakfast in the small room we... More

This hotel is nice, clean and excellently located. The rooms are nice and comfortable. It provides a great ratio value/price for a hotel in Venice. The service is excellent. Since this is a family business, people are nice and kind.

If I am fortunate enough to return to Venice, I will happily stay at the Ca' Dogaressa. The place is spotless, the staff is very nice, and the comfortable rooms are done up in traditional Venetian style. If you want to be in the thick of the tourist crowds, stay by Piazza San Marco, but if you want a place... More

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights in June. We chose this hotel primarily for its location - it was about 10/15 minutes walk from the main train station (with only 1 bridge to cross) and there was a water-bus stop right outside the hotel. This was particularly useful, as you could take a water-bus directly to St.... More

Brilliant hotel and location. We were after a relaxing weekend and this was the perfect place, easy walking distance from everything yet it felt far enough away from the chaos. Lovely breakfast venue right on the side of the canal watching the world go by. The staff were all lovely, very helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay here again and... More

I bookede myself into this lovely hotel for three nights. It was lovely. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I wanted to give my credit card for payment on checkin but was advised I could do that on checking out. Not something you see in most hotels today. The room was more that adequate for my stay. I was... More

The Good The location! This hotel is right on the canal and only 5 min walk (two vaporetto stops) from the train station. The rooms are decent and Paulo is a nice man. The Bad The exterior looks dilapidated This hotel does not have an elevator and you do not get any help from the hotel staff to haul your... More

The staff was marvelous, room was pefrect, Paulo the owner was so kind - our 3 year old daughter loved him, the breakfast was so wonderful...as you can tell I loved this place. Opening the windows in the morning and having the view to the canal was breath taking and so fun to watch the people of Venice pass by.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
