We stayed one night here and I was really happy that we did. The hotel is very close to Santa Lucia station so we were able to bring our huge luggages to the hotel without going insane in the mid-day sun, hot weather and bumpy streets. The staff was very welcoming and clear and professional in explaining about the room,... More

We had a lovely stay at Hotel Ca'Dogaressa, it is so much more than you would expect from a 3 star hotel. Our room was small but well appointed with a decent sized bathroom, air conditioning and wifi. The classic drapery and furniture were beautiful. We had our breakfast out on the canal which was a great way to start... More

I chose this on a friend's recommendation and boosted by these reviews, which I mostly agree with. The free wifi was great and unusually in a hotel, I slept well for all 3 nights. We had the junior suite room 1 overlooking the canal. The Guglie stop really is so convenient, arriving by Aligulana for 15 Euros from the airport,... More

We spent two nights here in May 2015, pre-cruise. This hotel is immaculate, & we were happy to save money by staying here instead of closer to the busy, noisy San Marco, which is a walkable distance away. From VCE airport, take a waterbus to the Guglie stop, just literally steps away. Owners/managers Daniel & Paolo are friendly & helpful,... More

My husband and I stayed at Ca'Dogaressa for 2 nights in May 2015. The location is great as the hotel faces a canal and is located very close to a water taxi stop. The hotel is also walking distance from the train station and the main public water taxi port so transportation is easy. A delicious breakfast of croissants, yogurt,... More

The location was great. It was not in a tourist-heavy area and yet was close to the action. Also, it is right next to a stop for the main water bus from the airport as well as the city water buses. They will also store your luggage until check-in time (or after check-out). The room itself was not great. I... More

We stayed on the upper floor over looking the canal. Lovely big room with a fold out lounge as the 3rd bed and still plenty of room for 3 adults. The bathroom was big and roomy. Breakfast was served by the canal which was just what we wanted for our stay in Venice. There are restaurants on the opposite side... More

We had a most enjoyable visit to this sparkling clean, beautiful little hotel. Great location convenient to the train station and all sites in Venice, and in a neighborhood that is quiet but still close to restaurants. Lovely breakfast sitting out on the canal, beautiful rooftop terrace, and friendly, wonderful hosts; thank you to Paolo and his family. We stayed... More

We chose this hotel due to the ratings, location and price. The hotel itself was about ~10 min walk from the train station, and only one bridge to cross with luggage (if walking). About a half hour to an hour walking to SanMarco's square, but there is plenty around the hotel itself. There's also a vaporetto stop steps away from... More

Superb hospitality and generous staff. I like this classic & clean room very much. Nice neighborhood and catch the sun. It's easy to access from Marco Polo Airport by Vaporetto. Uncomfortable bed in my room was the only fault. Definitely I am going to call on them again in the near future !

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
