Have just finished 4 nights at this delightful hotel. Ca Dogaressa scores highly in trip advisor for a reason. It's a lovely place. It's small has a very friendly atmosphere about it. There is something so very special about eating your breakfast outside next to the canal which I did every day. The staff were cheerful and always smiling. The... More

Superb location. Boutique hotel. Superb location -beautifully located on the river side, just off the main street -the hotel is 15mins of walk from train station, which we took it from Florence. The walk was okay, eventhough we were with our luggages, which was important since venice got many bridges and steps. -about 20-30mins of walk to the St. mark's... More

The hotel staff was extremely kind and helpful and the hotel location is great: 10 minutes walk from the bus and train stations. Extra points for the nice breakfast alongside the canal. The room was spacious and very clean. Highly recommended.

Lovely hotel in interesting location. Our room was the junior suite overlooking the canal. The room was lovely and had a great bathroom. We enjoyed the hotel and the neighborhood. We definitely would return.

We only stayed one night in Venice and we are so glad we chose the Ca' Dogaressa it was wonderful. It was an easy 10 minute walk from platform to the hotel (turn left out of the station, cross the first canal and turn left!) and we were greeted by Pablo who appeared to be waiting for us :) Our... We stayed one night here and I was really happy that we did. The hotel is very close to Santa Lucia station so we were able to bring our huge luggages to the hotel without going insane in the mid-day sun, hot weather and bumpy streets. The staff was very welcoming and clear and professional in explaining about the room,... More

We had a lovely stay at Hotel Ca'Dogaressa, it is so much more than you would expect from a 3 star hotel. Our room was small but well appointed with a decent sized bathroom, air conditioning and wifi. The classic drapery and furniture were beautiful. We had our breakfast out on the canal which was a great way to start... More

I chose this on a friend's recommendation and boosted by these reviews, which I mostly agree with. The free wifi was great and unusually in a hotel, I slept well for all 3 nights. We had the junior suite room 1 overlooking the canal. The Guglie stop really is so convenient, arriving by Aligulana for 15 Euros from the airport,... More

We spent two nights here in May 2015, pre-cruise. This hotel is immaculate, & we were happy to save money by staying here instead of closer to the busy, noisy San Marco, which is a walkable distance away. From VCE airport, take a waterbus to the Guglie stop, just literally steps away. Owners/managers Daniel & Paolo are friendly & helpful,... More

My husband and I stayed at Ca'Dogaressa for 2 nights in May 2015. The location is great as the hotel faces a canal and is located very close to a water taxi stop. The hotel is also walking distance from the train station and the main public water taxi port so transportation is easy. A delicious breakfast of croissants, yogurt,... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
