Eleonora and her little B+B made our trip to Venice so special. We arrived by water taxi and she met us at the water stop. Just a short walk later, we arrived at her "off the beaten path" Bed + Breakfast. Our room was clean, well appointed, quaint and overlooked the canal. We threw open the balcony doors to hear... Our trip to Venice was magical! Al Teatro B&B was perfect. We stayed in the Rosa Room with three windows opening onto the charming canals. The gondoliers serenaded us as they glided through the gentle waters outside this lovely place. Breakfast was a highlight as we met people from around the world. Eleonora's warm croissants, cappuccino, and fresh fruit gave... More

We stayed here in Sept 2014. My wife doesn't usually like B&B's, but she thought this one was great, and would definitely go back. Summertime in Venice is expensive, but here you at least get your money's worth. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The breakfast is nothing special, but the host (Leonora) is very helpful and knowledgeable. The communal... More

Don't think about it, just book this place NOW!!! Our stay at Al Teatro was absolutely fantastic and our stay in Venice was so good because of Elenora, our host at Al Teatro. To start with, the booking process was very easy and smooth. Elenora gave us great directions on how to reach the B & B - and if... More

We hadn't been to Venice before, and I researched hotels and B&Bs via the web including trip advisor hoping we would be lucky. We were! Al Teatro is a delight. I and my daughter, 21, and son, 13, stayed here in late March 2015 (my wife unfortunately had a business deadline that prevented her coming). This is like being in... More

The location is amazing - easy access to the Grand Canal and the vaporetto system and St Marks - excellent advice from our host - especially appreciated the excellent restaurant suggestions in a city crammed with eateries. Our room - the amber was spacious and comfortable - so nice to have a bath as well as a shower- but the... More

Having stayed here before, this was our first choice for an ideal base in Venice. Although we had only two nights on this visit, this just has to be the most convenient, comfortable place to stay. Eleonora is the ultimate host, every helpful with advice and suggestions, but not too intrusive. Our room, the Green Room, was super comfortable with... More

Spent 3 nights at this comfortable quiet B and B. We stayed in Amber room with lovely views down a minor canal that saw gondolas passing during the day but quiet at night. Eleanor's was a perfect host, helpful, knowledgeable and very accommodating. Her restaurant recommendations were spot on. Cannot fault this quaint place to stay. Breakfasts catered for all... More

My wife and me spent 3 nights at Al Teatro. It's the first time we go in a B&B and it was a wonderful experience. We were feeling like home with the warm welcome of Eleonora and the chat with her in the morning when having breakfast. The situation is great with the frequent passages of the gondolas. It was... Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
