Quaint, convenient and impeccably clean. Eleonora was so friendly and her English is excellent. She stayed up and welcomed us from the airport. Then she helped us plan our excursions as well as served a delicious breakfast. The bed-and-breakfast has been her family's home for generations.

I searched long and hard for accommodation in Venice trying to find a good location with canal views that wouldn't break the bank. Al Teatro ticked all the boxes! Small and friendly right on the junction of several canals. We could watch the gondoliers float by and hear the Italian singing. Such a lovely experience before we even stepped outside.... More

My wife and I took a short trip to Venice and stayed at Al Teatro which is in stunning location overlooking the canal right next to the opera. The first morning we were woken by the sound of the gondoliers outside our windows serenading, truly magical a unique experience. Al Teatro is close to all the most famous Venetian sights and... More

This is a very well located B&B with warm and comfy rooms which were welcome after a cold days walking. Eleonora is a Venetian through and through and will help you find your way around this very confusing city, including letting you know where it is good to eat. Our room looked out on an atmosperic canal at the back... More

Highly recommend Al Teatro. The rooms are bright and spacious, and Eleonora has many good tips and insights on making the most of your time in Venice (i.e. restaurant recommendations, straightforward directions to tourist sites, the best times to go to particular museums, transportation tips, etc.).

This is a small bed and breakfast house superbly situated adjacent to the stage entrance to the Fenice, with a canal on two sides of the building. We arrived on a hot day in September and travelled to the accommodation by vaporetto, walked a short distance and were met by the owner who made us very welcome, business like, informative... More

We chose the B&B for the location and for the canal view, and it was even better than expected. Although it is a bit difficult to learn your way around Venice, once you find Al Teatro, you see that you are at a stone throw from St Marco, the Vaporetto stop and Accademia and Rialto bridge. This was great, because... More

I was referred to stay with Eleanora at the Al Teatro B & B from Cruisee Critic and I was not disappointed. First Eleanora is amazing. Sent us in the right direction every morning and some amazing food in the evening. The rooms are large and offer very comfortable sleeping. The home is kept very clean and having our own... More

This is a great place to stay!! Eleonora has moved her own family from this historic apartment and opened it up as a B&B in Venice. I selected this B&B for both Eleonora’s helpfulness and its location. An unexpected surprise was the history of Eleonora’s family and the apartment (ask about the ceilings and age)—your own tour. Eleonora loves Venice!... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
