We stayed at Locanda Novo and found it to be in a wonderful location. Heard it was a bit hard to find so we hired a water taxi from the airport on the recommendation from another friend. The driver was really nice and pointed us in the right direction. There is a piazza nearby and you will see a sign... More

Located the perfect distance from a main Street, tucked behind a church, wasn't noisy in the slightest. Great service, we required an early check in as well as luggage storage as we had an evening flight out of VCE...no problems at all!! The place gives you that old Venice feel with antique furniture and top notch glasswork. Only downside was... More

Thanks to a tripadvisor user photo we found the hotel very easily, it is tucked down an alley, and like so many of Venice's buildings its full of character, adorned inside with marble, granite, chandeliers and antique furniture that adds to a wonderful shabby character. The receptionist while didnt speak english was as friendly and helpful as she could be,... More

My husband and I stayed one night at the Locanda Novo. The hotel is in a hard to find but extremely quiet and convenient location. 5 mins from the Ca'doro stop and 7 to the Rialto Bridge. The front desk attendant was very friendly and helpful over the phone when we got lost on our way to check in. Very... More

If you are looking for a hotel that is not going to break the bank in Venice then this is ideal. Its perfect that it has a great location in 5-8 mins walk from Rialto Bridge and 5 - 6 min walk from Ca' d'oro vaporetto stop making it easy to get to on arrival The hotel is old fashioned... More

Locanda Nova is wonderfully situated within walking distance to everything in Venice and on the Grand Canal. The room has ensuite and a small balcony with room service daily. A modest breakfast is served in the rooms each morning. Antoinetta at reception was extremely helpful to us during a very stressful time. The only drawback was the stairs but they... More

The rooms are exactely as you can see it on site, with nice furniture, cristal lamps. Breakfast served in the room, very consistent (ham, yellow cheese, croisants, butter&jam, coffe, juice, 2 kind of bread). The personal is very nice and polite, we had the surprise to have the room ready in the morning, when we arrived. Very close to Rialto... More

After reading negative comments about this place i was so scared to go here, but when we arrived we actually quite happy! It was really easy to find! I read a review and someone was saying it was really hard to find but they had signs pointing to where the hotel was. The lady at the desk was sooooo nice... More

We arrived at the hotel after having spent around an hour trying to get there, cause the street where it's located does not appear in most of the maps. When we finally got there, the lady who received us was not nice at all. She did not treated us well. The room was big but the single bed (we had... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
