Because we are family of 5 people, we didn’t stay at the hotel and they took us to an apartment which is located 7 minutes walk from the hotel. The apartment was very old; it felt like you’re in your grandmother house. The blankets were made from whole and it looks and fills like they were not so clean we... More

The hotel gives a warm feeling, not only because of the decor, but also because the staff are super patient and attentive. The location is good, and the breakfast is sufficient. The WiFi works well. My room is a bit small but comfy, and the shower is not the best. Overall it was a great stay, and I would stay... More

I checked out today, hotel is 20-30 monutes far away from train station st Lucia by walk. Everything is small, people are great. I m not satisfied with food and with wc. Also, the internet is so bad if that is important.

Everything is accurate and makes sense in this little hotel, which can often be booked for a very reasonable price. The small and clean rooms are freshly renovated and pleasant, with very good beds and new toilets/showers, some have their own little private balcony in the middle of the "calle" (3rd floor rooms). The staff is kind, cheerful and helpful and... More

I stayed there with a couple of my friends for three nights. The first night when we were there, we stayed at the bottom floor. But due to low tide season in Venice, the drain smelled quite bad. We asked the staff if we could change room, and they were super helpful about it even when the hotel was quite... More

This place is a little easier to find than some hotels are in this part of town. So many interesting cul de sacs, back alleys, side turns, etc. I was thankful for the clearly indicated road via a nice sign showing where to turn to go to the hotel. This place has an elevator, which was nice. The breakfast was... More

We stayed for 5 nights at the beginning of November, and were blessed with wonderful sunshine to explore Venice! Hotel Mignon is in an ideal location, as other reviewers have said, 10 mins from Rialto and another 10 further to reach San Marco. We followed their website's directions, and using a bus and one vaparetto, arrived at the hotel less... More

We stayed at the Mignon for 5 nights in October 2015 with another couple. The hotel is well positioned in the Cannaregio region for all of the attractions of Venice. The staff were very helpful advising on restaurants, sights and ordering a water taxi. Room was small but clean and adequate for a short stay. Breakfast was very good but... More

First review. The staff are excellent and always work with a smile. Room was small but we knew that coming in, but actually we did not need a bigger room as we didn't aim to spend our time there there is a desk and just enough plugs and the ensuite was a good size. Though the decor was a little... More

Hotel Mignon offers rooms in the very heart of Venice for a very reasonable price. Although located very near San Apostoli chruch, the lodge was in a backstreet and away from the touristic crowds. As a result it was a little bit too dark for my taste, but this is to be expected in Venice, unless you are staying in... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
