Ending our third week of traveling, our first European trip. I had been trying to stay under $100 eu per night and had been successful throughout Ireland, Netherlands, Germany, and Milan. I read that Venice was Italy's most expensive city so I was not surprised at the prices I found. Knowing this, I booked at the Hotel Tiziano for $170... More

One of the best hotels. My husband and I stumbled across this hidden gem by accident but it was the best surprise! We were "too late" for our hotel and ended up staying here. Amazing staff so helpful, great breakfast couldn't have asked for a better place to spend Venice in! The hotel is gorgeous and the rooms are very... More

We had a blast this past weekend. Being out there in Venezia and after a lot of walking around its a good thing to get back to a nice, quiet and clean hotel. The service was very friendly, the breakfast was what it's supposed to be. It's located in Dorsoduro which is about a 30 minute walk from the touristic... More

This hotel is a gem in a quieter part of Venice, but it's not too far from anywhere, by foot or boat. It is clean, tastefully and carefully decorated with decent furniture and bathroom facilities. The staff are welcoming and breakfast is plentiful, with something for everyone. Highly recommended.

This is a small but very well appointed hotel tucked away in a quiet neighbourhood in Venice. We had a spacious, spotless and quiet room on the top floor. The breakfast was delicious and the staff were helpful and charming. Highly recommended.

We have just returned from a 5 day trip to celebrate my 40th birthday. It was our first break without children for 7 years and we hoped for a memorable trip .... This was definitely the case, all for the right reasons, and largely helped by the charming and delightful Hotel Tiziano and their fabulous staff. As people have said,... More

Having just come for a long weekend stay , my wife and I we're pleasantly surprised that this small Hotel of only 14 rooms was extremely grand for a 3* accommodation. The staff at reception Steve and Claudia were very kind and helpful as this was our 1st trip to Venice and not sure their advice was very appreciated. The... More

Only there 2 nights but once I got my bearings found it ideal in location and accommodations. No lift so beware of schlepping suitcases up stairs. Breakfasts are more Spartan than others. But good value.

In a city notorious for the cost and varying quality of its hotels and restaurants, this small hotel can be a genuine bargain. We stayed for two nights between Chrismas and New Year.Rooms were perfectly adequate.More spacious than expected and clean.Bathrooms, with bath, had been newly renovated.Breakfast was basic but fair for what we paid.Stefano on reception was a very kind and friendly... This is a wonderful small hotel. It is located alongside a picturesque canal in a quiet residential neighborhood, away from the tourist areas. It is a pleasant five minute walk to the two nearest vaporetto stops. We purchased the 7 day vaporetto pass, but one can easily walk from the hotel to any of the sights in Venice from the... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
