Between San Marco square and Rialto Bridge, difficult to do better. Clara is the owner & hostess and does a great job. She met us at the San Angelo vaporetto stop and escorted us to the B&B. It would have been very difficult to find on our own. The room and bath are quite new construction well kept, and of... More

This B&B has a spectacular location in Venice. A great home-base for all the walking you'll do as you explore the city. The owner, Clara, met us at the water bus stop and walked us to the B&B. I'm so glad she did, because we never would have found it otherwise. Upon arrival, she gave us a cold drink and... More

We recently visited Venice for 4 days May 22-26, 2012, and stayed at Le Boteghe B&B. We were not disappointed. The place was clean and tidy and is close to two water bus station and the place was an easy walk to everywhere, e.g. San Marco Square. Giordano was a wealth of information, being born and raised in Venice and... More

Not far from the Grand Canal, within easy walking distance of both Piazza San Marco and the Accademia Bridge and Dorsoduro, A Le Boteghe is a great find in Venice. Clara was a gracious and attentive host, and breakfast each day was a sociable affair with good food and great cappucino. The rooms are bright, clean and comfortable, and fairly... More

My wife and I stayed at this B&B for four nights in May of 2009. We have visited Venice on 5 occasions before this and found this to be a great find. Wonderful location, quiet, helpful hosts, and reasonable price. It was unseasonably hot for those few days and the modern air/heating unit worked great........none of that annoying rattling sound... We had a really nice stay at this B&B in the centre of Venice in April 2010. Our room was clean and cosy, and the hotel is very well located in a peaceful street of the S. Marco district. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was OK too.

I read the reviews prior to booking and again was struck at how different people's experiences are. 'Lovely, warm' to 'she took an instant dislike' ! It is ever a surprise to read through a sequence of reviews. Since it's compulsory to have a tagline above, I've done so but actually have no experience of staying at A le Boteghe.... More

We really enjoyed our stay at A Le Boteghe for 3 nights in May, 07. Clara and Giordano had contacted us when a B&B proprietor friend of theirs was booked and provided our room request info to them. They were very attentive and prompt with emails and booking, working flexibly with our budget. Giordano, an architect by trade, was so... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
