The room was very small, but for the price it was nicely done and furnished. The inn was not hard to locate, but I felt like the inn keepers should do a better job of being sure their customers get accurate information/directions. It was sort of like "not my problem" attitude when asked for directions and/or suggestions. There is NO... More

Comfy and located in the not so busy area , which was nice . Would prob stay here again , only issue that we found annoying was the weak wifi ... But the value was good considering how pricey a lot of places are in Venice

This is a lovely quiet B & B. It is quaint and entirely adequate. Location was ok and staff was helpful. They are only available upon check in and during the day, Overall a good spot in beautiful Venice. We ran into the same issue with the restroom on the last day, but oh well. We picked up our own... After a 2 night stay here. The last day we picked up our bags, my pregnant wife and I desperate to use a toilet, was told by the 2 male staff that it was only guests were allowed to use it and seeing as we had checked out in the morning, we were no longer entitled to use the toilet... More

The hotel is located about a 10 min walk from the piers, you have to walk over a couple of bridges which involves carrying your luggage up and down stairs. The room was nice and spacious, very old fashioned which we liked. Breakfast is only served between 8-10 and is a selection of bread and spreads. Wifi can only be... More

The locanda is conveniently located about a 5-10 minute walk from the Fondamente Nove vaporetto stop (a 15-20 minute boat ride from the train station). The older ladies (read. pensioners) in our group did not particularly enjoy the walk over two bridges with their luggage. It is not difficult to find, and once you're there, you're a leisurely 10-minute walk... More

The hotel was in a perfect location, which wasn't too difficult to find when we arrived in Venice. The woman who works their is really friendly and helpful with everything. The room was quite big and clean, and the bathroom had a shower that could fit two people in! The bed was comfy and the room had decent air conditioning... More

We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary in Italy and wanted a small but quaint hotel in Venice for a few days before catching a cruise. We chose this hotel after reading the reviews here on TripAdvisor. The hotel was very lovely and deserves all praises found here. It was clean, comfortable and all the staff were very friendly and... We visited Venice during the busy opening of it's Biennale art festival. As a result we had trouble finding a room and were lucky to find this small hotel. The location is great: a 5-10 minute walk to St. Marks Square and 5 minutes from the Rialto Bridge. Our room was small and on several levels - step down into... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
