The room smelled like an old, humid attic. Bed mattress was old and had springs poking my back. Bathroom was modern, clean, and beautiful. Staff is very unpleasant. But the location is great (next to the train station, easy access to everything), and when compared to other hotels in Venice in this price range, it's not the worst option...

In a good location close to both bus and train stations, water taxis just a short walk away. Rooms are small but not bad for an old hotel. Don't overload the lift as you might spend longer in it than expected!!!

Many times I have looked at pictures of hotels on the internet only to find when I get there it is a disappointment. This hotel was far better than represented and exceeded my expectations in all areas. Beautiful lobby, helpful and friendly staff and a very comfortable room. All at a very reasonable price! I will return here againl

We found this hotel perfect for our 3 night stay. The negative reviews are from narrow minded people who want to pay for 3 star prices and get 5 star. We wanted an authentic Venetian style hotel and this is what we got It was very clean, reception staff were friendly and helpful. The location was perfect. Out of central... More

This is the perfect Venice hotel. The staff were very accommodating (I was in a leg cast) in getting us a room with minimal steps. Very clean and decorated with Morano glass chandeliers. Belle Epoque refers to an opulent period of time and the hotel lives up to its name! Breakfast was great with little sandwiches, fresh fruit and pastries.... More

I am quite frankly dumbfounded by the negative reviews of this hotel. I just checked out today and had a lovely time along with the 50 people who were in our group. . LOCATION: the hotel is a 3-minute walk from the train station. There are no bridges between the train station and the hotel. It is about a 25... More

The rooms are very bad, dirty. In the room there is no place for you. It's the smallest room i have ever seen. The beds are really uncomfortable. The hotel was dirty, the employees are rude. There are more words to say but only i can say that it was really really terrible experience!

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
