The hotel Belle Epoque is close to the Train station and a few meters from the Vaporetto lines. It is situated in one of the main streets with a lot of cafés, shops and places to see. The rooms are (typically for Venice) small, but cosy, and nice decorated. Single rooms means Double room for single use, which i recommend... More

As most other reviews state - great location. 5 minutes walk from where the airport bus drops you, and 3 minutes walk to the train station. Also right near a major ferry stop. We walked to san marco square (and beyond) with out difficultly. We found the room to be quite lovely (3rd floor) with great air con, bigish balcony,... More

Stayed in this hotel when had weekend in Venice last summer. Was surprised with quality antique furniture and interior in rooms and placements. Personnel was friendly and obliging. Continental breakfast is very good as well. Very good hotel to stay in Venice for weekend and even longer, so I highly recommend!

Good: Location-wise, it's perfect for people arriving/leaving in Santa Lucia station or Marco Polo AP. We stayed in the hotel during hot-spell in Venice early July 2015, and AC was working fine. Bad: Receptionists were mostly non-responsive (one word response at best). Appeared to be disinterested in people checking into the hotel - at least, a quick smile would have... More

Let me first say we booked this hotel over a year in advance of our trip and ended up being apprehensive of what our stay was going to be like. As the title of the review states "The Beautiful Era" was a period in the history from approximately 1870 through 1914. This hotel is most definitely decorated as of that... More

The Belle Epoque Hotel is in a great spot, just a minute walk from the train station. The rooms was basic and the bed comfortable, but the stairs to our room did not have a hand rail and we had to carry our bags up - not happy after a long haul flight...... The breakfast was also basic but reasonable... More

The room smelled like an old, humid attic. Bed mattress was old and had springs poking my back. Bathroom was modern, clean, and beautiful. Staff is very unpleasant. But the location is great (next to the train station, easy access to everything), and when compared to other hotels in Venice in this price range, it's not the worst option...

In a good location close to both bus and train stations, water taxis just a short walk away. Rooms are small but not bad for an old hotel. Don't overload the lift as you might spend longer in it than expected!!!

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
