The hotel is literally a 5 minute walk from the Santa Maria rail station and a 10 minute walk from the Scalzi bridge where the airport bus will drop you off ....the most economical transport from the airport by far ! The hotel is appointed with furnishings, wood flooring and wall coverings from an early era but is well maintained... More

We spent 2 nights in this quirky hotel. 150m to the train station, 50m to gondala's, ferries & water taxi's. Comfy bed, good shower & luggage storage facilities. Staff were friendly, english speaking & helpful. Would stay there again.

Arrived early and advised rooms would not be ready till 2 which was ok but the receptionist didn't even try to check and was keen for us to stop interrupting her day as soon as possible. We finally got into our room at 2 only to find it dark, damp and overlooking a scrappy courtyard. We decided not to stay... More

Just got back from spending 2 nights here and thought what great hotel for £37 per night booked through booking.com. Hotel staff were friendly and the decoration is in keeping with Venice so don't take much notice of some of other reviews ! Would book again

Pretty hotel. Great location for train, and pretty good base for exploring Venice. There was a noise coming from above my ceiling... an endless droning sound, loud, quiet, loud, quiet, non-stop, 24hrs. Rang reception. Guy answered, told him issue, he said see how it goes and call back. I told him it was going non-stop all night, he said see... More

We travel to Italy on 30/11/2015-8/12/2015. I didn't expect to experience such a beautiful hotel near from grand canal and train station! The hotel price for 2N stay was so cheap.. and of course we book the hotel from booking.com. the WIFI quite slow but who cares since we came all the way from Malaysia for travel not to wasting... stayed one night in Hotel Epoque. Traveled from Florence through Trenitalia. The hotel is pretty much nearby from the St lucia station venezia, say 500 meters. Booked the trip through goibibo traveling site. The hotel has strict check-in time at 14:00 hours and hence, had to keep my luggage in the hotel as I reached early at 10 am. I... More

We had a room over the street 3 nights, and with windows open could hear the murmur of pedestrians below, a fun sound which could be shut off with the excellent seal unit windows. The decor, on the glitzy side included Murano lamps and overwhelmingly red fabric walls...which we took happily for a change from more subdued digs elsewhere...it goes... More

Excellent place if travel to Venice by train, Only 2-3 min and you are in hotel. Vaporetto water transport station is very close. The room design is old style with quite narrow bathroom. For moment the floor carpet in room looks worn out. The breakfast was sufficient and good. The option to leave the luggage after check out was dungle,... More

I stayed here for 2 nights with my girlfriend. The location is great, right next to the train station and about a 5min walk from where the bus to the Airport is. I read a lot of reviews before booking this place and the old guy on the front desk is possibly the grumpiest person I've ever met, how is... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
