Luxuriously large rooms made for a nice retreat from the crowded "streets" of Venice each day. Staff could not have been more accommodating. Sent us to excellent restaurants with reservations and a step by step directions. And warned of where not to go. Most importantly they served with pleasure. Would go back for sure.

My daughter and I stayed at this charming hotel for a Mother's day trip to Venice Clean and cozy with a very convenient location to Square. A little dated decor but very charming. No complaints at all. Also private landing was convenient for early morning water taxi to airport.

If you're looking for authentic then here it is, if you're looking for location, here it's is, if you're looking for friendly staff here they are, but if your looking for polished, sleek furnishing this is not the place. Clean, roomy but in need of some tlc, appreciate most period hotels do, but attention to bathrooms which are a modern... More

I feel that this small hotel was clean. And the breakfast was good. I found the reception staff quite miserable. I cannot see how this hotel is a four star it felt like a three.we paid three hundred Euros for a upgrade did not think it warranted that much for what you got!

My partner and I stayed here in March, the hotel is tired and in need of a revamp, we had a junior suite which over looked the canal but only a small side view, the hotel is located at the far end of the canal with the bridge of sighs Our room was huge but the bed was very uncomfortable... More

We stayed here for the last two nights of a ten day trip to Italy, visiting family near Venice and a few days in Rome. A lovely stay. Dona Palace is really just a few steps of of St Marks but feels fairly quiet. We were there with our son and his family, which includes a 2-year old. The hotel... More

Absolute best location that you could ask for! Quiet side street within meters of St Marks square and a TON of great shopping and food! The staff was very helpful and spoke great english for us novice Italian speakers. They can arrange water taxis and just about anything you need at a moments notice. The special anniversary message, cake, and... More

We stayed at Hotel Dona Palace last spring. I was so impressed with everything about the hotel. We chose to take a water taxi from the airport and loved that we passed under The Bridge of Sighs to get to the hotel. Check in was a breeze, and it was very easy to book our taxi for when we were... My wife and I spent a week in late March, 2015 at the Dona Palace. We found it to be small, charming, and welcoming in a perfect location( Blocks behind San Marco)..The staff was more than accommodating... On the second day I had a tooth ache... Raffaele, the desk clerk, arranged a dentist visit for me and literally saved our... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
