The room was extremely nice for the price. The location was great and very easy to come from airport. The hotel's website gives the directions which is a great help for coming to Venice. The breakfast is basic but very decent. We wanted a late checkout and the hotel accommodated us which was extremely nice of them! A couple of... More

Excellent quiet location, not to far from the main places but far enough away not to be touristy and rushed. It was exactly what I expected a typical Venetian home to be like, very traditional and quaint. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily stay when I next visit Venice. Let us leave our bags on check out day and... More

A wonderful place to experience Venice. Great location near Rialto Bridge and St. Mark's. Not easy to find, but when you do it wil be worth it! The directions given on their website are good - just be sure to catch a vaporetto going to the left when you leave the train station. We took a #2 (on the left)... More

Great place, a mixture of vintage retro decor and outright kitsch! It had most things we expected, a comfortable bed, a fridge, a quiet location. It had a few extras, such as its own water landing, friendly staff. What it did lack was the opportunity to get a cup of coffee at anytime other than breakfast. Breakfast was nice, croissants,... My criteria for choosing this hotel was the travel maxim " two streets back". Stay close to St Marks but not too close. First important point, get a private water taxi and they can take you to the drop off point right next to the hotel, even on the hotel side! Those of you who have travelled to Venice know... More

Recently stayed here in September 2014 for our 10th wedding anniversary trip to beautiful Venice. We had a courtyard room which was nicely decorated, had a modern bathroom, air conditioning and a comfortable bed. The welcome we got when we arrived was warm and friendly. The view from our room was nothing special, but then again for the price and... More

We spent 3 nights at this small hotel. The room was huge, clean, the staff friendly and the breakfast just fine. It is a little hard to find, but it is worth it. Close to Rialto Bridge, walking distance to most attractions.

In walking distance of just everything. Park your car at the Parking San Marco, then line 2 to Rialto. If not familiar with the city you need someone to meet you at the Rialto station, particularly at night, otherwise and without GPS you would be lost. Otherwise it is a 10 min. walk. The house is a typical Venetian house... More

We stayed at this B&B for 3 nights and found it to be very disappointing. Having read some promising reviews we were really looking forward to our stay and mini break in Venice but from the moment we arrived we were very disappointed. The room we were allocated was not the standard / size booked and due to the hotel... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
