We went with family including our three boys. The boys loved the feel of staying in a bed and breakfast for the first time. Ric and Grace were helpful in retrieving our lost luggage, helping us with logistics and even getting my wife flowers for her birthday at my request. The location is excellent and the place was clean. We... More

Our stay with Riccardo and Grace was wonderful! They were so helpful in making recommendations and advice. Our stay in Venice was adjusted based on their advice and it made our days much smoother and efficient! The room we stayed in was very nice and comfortable. If we ever return to Venice we will stay here again!

My husband and I stayed here in October 2015. What a gem! It is a charming, authentically historical place located a few blocks from Piazza San Marcos. the hosts (Ric and Grace - she is American) were very warm and helpful. The rooms are wonderful and the breakfast was plentiful and tasty. I would go back anytime!

Ric and Grace were great hosts to us. The room was spacious and comfortable and in a wonderful old building, which now has an elevator. The B&B is in a really great location, so close to San Marco, but very quiet at night. The directions to their place posted on the website were the best, most thoughtful directions that we... More

My husband and I spent 3 nights at Corte Campana. Riccardo and Grace could not have been any more helpful or more gracious. Even before we left home they had sent us information to make our arrival easy and smooth. They followed up again to be sure everything was on track. The location is terrific - near Piazza San Marco.... More

Highly recommended. This was our 6th trip to Venice and best lodging experience (we've previously stayed in high-end hotels and rented an apartment). The hosts Ric & Grace are very warm, informative and put guests at ease. The location is fantastic. There is an elevator but be aware that you must be able to manage one flight of stairs to... More

We had a fantastic experience. The building was built in 1540, but has all the modern conveniences. You can just sense the history that has occurred there. The location was perfect, just minutes from Piazza San Marco. Concerning steps, we used the elevator that Riccardo had installed and had no problems. Riccardo and Grace were the perfect hosts. Their kindness... More

There is not enough words to describe how wonderfully amazing this B & B is.....the decor is fab, the breakfast is filling...but the real gem of this B & B is Ric & Grace. This was my second time staying here, the first time I didn't get to meet Grace, but Ric made me feel like I was "Home", he... More

We stayed in the Parents Room which looks out over a quiet courtyard. The room was large and illuminated by a gorgeous taupe-colored chandelier (what else would you expect in Venice?) The bath had a shower with lots of hot water. Riccardo and Grace made us feel welcome right away, marking a map with their suggestions for eating and sight-seeing.... More

Where do I begin... by the time we got to the B&B from the airport, we were exhausted and ready to get rid of our luggage. When we got to the entrance, it was a little dark and we were unsure if it was the right place, but then we saw Riccardo stick his head out the window waving and... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
