The Alterations were great. Huge bedroom with private bath. Great location! Ricardo and grace made our honeymoon special! I hope to return and see them again! The location is right next to St Mark's Square.

This B&B is a gem. Grace and Ric (the owners) are such wonderful people! They are very enthusiastic and are very helpful. They have great suggestions on places to eat and see. The location is very close to St. Mark's Square. The room we had was very large and the bathroom was big!

We've stayed with Riccardo at Corte Compana three times now over the past decade and wouldn't think twice about returning at least three more times! We typically don't seek out B&Bs, but Riccardo and Grace's warm hospitality, combined with unbeatable location, and large, comfy rooms that provide a good night's sleep keep us coming back. Above all, their excellent advice... More

I couldn't have imagined a better first place to stay in Venice. The building is old and quaint, but really everything I wanted while staying in such a city. Easy walking distance from Saint. Mark's Square and restaurants. The place itself is warm, welcoming, the double bedroom we stayed in was spacious with a private bathroom. Everything was clean and... More

I am not usually a fan of B&Bs as I do not find them "charming" like most others. This one however, changed my view on B&Bs from here on out. First off Riccardo (the owner and host) makes you feel at home right away and does everything during your stay to keep it that way. The B&B is the actual... More

This is a beautiful little B&B with a very accomodating owner. The location is fabulous! Just a short walk from Saint Mark's Square. Some people have complained about the stairs so let me address that. There are a LOT of stairs. It's a 400+ year old building! But Ricardo is putting in an elevator that should be done next year.... This was the first place we stayed at during out trip and we had a nice stay. The location was great and Ricardo was a wonderful host. The room was large, clean, and had it's own bathroom. The building was under construction, but it was still fine. There are stairs but they will be putting in an elevator this fall.

Riccardo is amazing and made us feel right at home. The B&B has a very classic look and the beds/pillows were extremely comfortable. Breakfast is delivered by Riccardo personally and was great. Super close to St. Mark's square. Definitely the place to stay in Venice.

We found this B&B through the Rick Steves' Italy travel guide. We were booked for 2 nights at Corte Campana, but unfortunately were forced to miss the first night due to a flight cancellation. Though we were prepared to pay in full for 2 nights, Riccardo was kind enough to accept only 1 night of payment. We, of course, insisted... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
