Well it was authentic alright, doesn't seem like its been re decorated or cleaned since it was built. I get the historic worth of the hotel, but really.....you can replace curtains and bedding, re vamp the bathroom keeping the integrity. The lady on reception was rather rude too. and please beware of the city tax they don't not explain until... More

Our travel agent recommended this B & B to us based on its convenient location and reasonable price, and we were not disappointed. We booked two rooms, for us and our daughters, and requested lower level floors. The staircase is narrow and a bit steep, so we had to be careful. The rooms had a quaint old-world charm, the bathroom... More

We were so lucky to have found this delightful place so close to everything in venice just near Rialto bridge((drop off point when arriving by boat from the bus)& leaving for the airport. Also just around the cnr from San Marco square. We were here in the heatwave and I'm sure, this place had the best a/con! We were given... More

I visited this lovely place to celebrate my birthday and New year's Eve, I absolutely loved it. The owner Guido and Ricardo are amazing, and very friendly. If you need any recommendations of places to visit in Venice they will help you and even give you a map. The place is clean and the rooms have a peaceful atmosphere, it... More

This is a small B&B with a fantastic location. It's in San Marco and in between St. Mark's and the Rialto Bridge. Lots of shopping steps away from their front doors. Odds are likely that you will walk by this hotel if you're exploring San Marco. The hosts are very hospitable and provide great service. The room was fine. Nothing... More

This hotel is in a great location. The WiFi is free and very strong. Breakfast is good. They also have great coffee. The innkeeper is amazing and is really a great resource about the area. The hotel is very close to Rialto bridge and St. Marks. We were very pleased with our stay.

Easy walk to both Rialto Bridge area and St. Mark's square. Booking, check in/out, and breakfast all easy and well handled by genial hosts, who sent very helpful and detailed directions by email, so it was easy to find. Very convenient for water taxi arrival from airport, and also for water taxi to Murano to see the glass factories and... More

My experience with Lanterna di Marco Polo began before I even arrived in Italy. Upon booking, I received a personal email from the owner asking for my planned arrival method and time so that he could suggest the best way to get to the hotel. This made things SO EASY! If you haven't been to Venice before, it can be... More

The Hotel is at great location. Centrally located and within walking distance to most of the places. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Our flight was delayed by 3 hours, but they waited for us to do the check-in. The rooms are slightly small but comfortable. Overall, a great place to stay. Would definitely stay again at this hotel.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
