Did not get the exact room that we had reserved, but replacement room was satisfactory; breakfast only adequate; excellent location; hot water did not work on second morning of 2 nite stay. I would say this hotel is probably a good value for Venice. Be prepared to climb stairs. I would rate " good " overall. more

The reception gave us #9 which was the top floor that had a 'terrace'. Not like we used it, but it was nice. Room was small but had two windows. Lighting in here was kinda dark but overall, the experience was good. It was just above a B&B and par with a travel hotel/motel. Shower was probably the smallest ever.... more

Location between Rialto Bridge and St. Marks Square positions you for an enjoyable experience. Friendly and helpful receptionists share local knowledge and help with reservations, etc. Excellent directions for locating hotel upon arrival and negotiating the canal transportation. A few things...rooms small, on five or six floors with narrow, steep stairs, no elevator and no help with luggage. Breakfast at... more

Wonderful location. Lovely staff. Sylvia was particularly helpful & even emailed us before we left to let us know there was a public transport strike & suggested alternatives! Easy to get around & very central. Clean, affordable & included a moderate breakfast. Get there early! Very small space, but so quaint! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! more

This place is an easy walk from the Rialto Bridge - something to be said since it is so easy to get lost in Venice! It is very small and had the worst breakfast selection of any of out hotels on this trip (5). The front hall/check in area doubles as the breakfast room with 3 tables. Our triple room... more

This is the hotel I always stay at in Venice, its very small and during aqua alta the ground floor can be a bit wet...which is interesting at breakfast time (its actually quite funny) but all the rooms are on floors above!! I usually stay with my husband or with my Mum, and the only downside I can see is... more

We stayed at the Lanterna Di Marco polo for two nights, Friday through Sunday (10/10/08-10/12/08). We were greeted by Francesca, the owner, who was noticeably 8 months pregnant. She was very warm in greeting us and gave us a map to tour the city with. She noted our location on the map so that we may get back to the... more

Nice place to stay right in the middle of everything, 3 minute walk from the Rialto vaporetto stop. Clean rooms. Helpful staff A few negatives, Lugging a 45 lb piece of luggage up 3 flights of steps, no screens on windows = mosquito bites (lots) They only give fresh towels every second day. Overall I would consider staying again based... more

This is a little gem. My sister and I stayed at the hotel for several days and had a large room on the top floor. Yes, we did have to carry our huge bags all the way up to the top, but we managed to make it to the room without having a coronary! We had been in contact with... more
