Arrived via water taxi from Venice airport for $120 Euro. We arrived before check in but our room was ready. Like other reviewers have posted we were supposedly upgraded to a junior suite. Three of us slept on two side by side single beds plus a cot was moved into the room. Not particularly spacious but adequate. They could have... More

Stayed here recently and my overall impression is this hotel is a three star hotel that is really trying to be a four star. The room was ok and clean but located next to a really busy canal. The noises from the early morning workers coming from the canal was a bit much. The breakfast was mediocre at best and... More

Location is fantastic. Right in the middle of top attractions. Property is excellent, well maintained. I was travelling with my mother from Barcelona . With the experience of helpful staff at Hotel Catalonia Passeig de Gracia, we were hoping similar courtesy for tips on sightseeing. But the attitude of one of the staff at the front desk whom i approached for... Excellent hotel, immaculate and beautifully decorated. Trendy / funky retro style bar with a great barman - what a personality! Brilliantly located right near to all the main areas, next to Rialto Bridge. Breakfast fantastic - you can sit overlooking the canals and watch the Gondolas go by. Each day we were left a wrapped up gift in the room,... More

The water level was slightly low for the water taxi to access the Hotel's dock, therefore have had to hire a porter to move the bags from the Pointe de Rialto to the hotel through the street (something to bear in mind particularly when luguage tax is going to be levied), which was fine providing that there are porter available... Love this hotel. it was everything i wanted. Water taxi from Marco Polo right to the door; arriving in style always a good start to a visit. Don't get me wrong when I say that classic Italy is to me the perfect balance of modern design mixed with some bold cheesy touches. And the Bonvecchiati delivers this cliche in every... More

Very nice boutique hotel located in the heart of Venice. Took two connecting rooms with my family of 4 and was not disappointed. Rooms are good size, comfortable beds and nice bathrooms. Shower was wonderful and space was clean and welcoming... Arrived via water taxi directly from the canal and was warmly welcomed by the staff. Breakfast was european and... More

What I liked: The location of the hotel is great: in the middle of a busy street, full with boutiques and restaurants; very close from both Ponte Rialto and Piazza San Marco. Coming by Alilaguna boat from the airport, it is very easy to reach the hotel and, most importantly, no bridge to cross or stairs to climb (and that's... More

Awesome hotel! We had a beautiful (HUGE) room with a beautiful, huge bathroom. The front desk staff was fabulous, very helpful in inquiring with the airlines about our lost luggage. They made great restaurant recommendations, and the hotel is fabulously situated. Pretty good buffet breakfast, albeit runny eggs which seem to be the norm in Italy. Would love to return... More

My wife and I celebrated a 25th wedding weekend in Venice and I want to commend the hotel for providing what I would describe as the best personal service that I have seen in many years. On arrival we were greeted with a smile and brought to our room (358) overlooking a small canal. The room was spacious and luxurious.... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
