Palace Bonvecchiati is conveniently situated between the Rialto and St Mark's square. If you take a water taxi from the airport then get it to take you right to the door of the hotel on the canal side. Otherwise take a water bus to the Rialto and you can walk there in 5 mins. The hotel is richly decorated, has... More

We booked this hotel on line, took a private water taxi from the airport ($130), stepped into a lovely modern Venice hotel. Great nice rooms, perfect bathroom, and a delicious breakfast in a beautiful atrium on the corner of two canals. Lots of delicious little restaurants right out the front door. Front desk staff were just great and are champs... More

Great location, halfway between Rialto bridge and San Marco square. Very good amenities, nice room, extremely comfortable with modern design. Breakfast is not worthy of the hotel standard. Cheap, low quality, no varied. Avoid, any osteria in the vicinity will be better. Service is ok, but certainly neither friendly nor smiling. I understand that the staff in Venice may be... More

Great night sleep too. Shop around if front desk service is important. Only one out of six employees at the front desk was friendly, and helpful, the other staff acted as if we were imposing on their time, and just too much trouble for them to be bothered. We were told a restaurant we ask them to make resv at was... More

This hotel is in the perfect location- a few minutes walk from the Rialto Bridge in one direction and about 10 minutes to St Marks Square in the other direction. Probably faster but you have to stop and admire the beautiful views and architecture along the way. The hotel decor is contemporary in style. Nice clean rooms. It shares a... More

This hotel is very convenient to all sights. A few steps away from St. Mark's Square, Saint Mark's Basilica, The Bridge if Sighs and the Doge's Palace. The breakfast was very good. They have a restaurant where we had dinner. We had ravioli filled with spinach in a cream sauce and chicken and potatoes. All very good. Our luggage did... More

The hotel is very close to the San Marco's Square. It is also very close to the Ferry terminal. I was a bit disappointed with the break fast as I am a vegetarian. They do not have enough options for vegetarians.

The only criticism I have of the hotel is that the breakfast service was very slow. We had to wait for fresh items to be served on two of the 3 mornings we stayed. The food was of a good standard however. We found the location of the hotel to be excellent with all points of interest nearby. the staff... More

Stayed for two nights and hotel checked us in early and ensured the stay was all that we wanted. Staff are very attentive and always have something positive to say, the central location is great and allows you to really explore venice without worrying.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
