Large wonderful rooms in this great centrally located hotel. 5 minutes walk to St Marks Square or Rialto Bridge, ample complimentary buffet breakfast with views overlooking the canal. Cozy hotel bar with friendly service for your pre or post dinner drinks. Helpful staff and concierge to assist with directions or sightseeing, helped us with transfers from airport to hotel and... Great spot, perfect location but reviews about staff are spot on, can't really be bothered and not very friendly at all. We had to move rooms as the bathroom looked like a hospital and I couldn't stay there, cost us an extra 80euro per night to change rooms. Gym was the basic set up 4 Cardio and free weights to... This is a great hotel very close to both San Marco Square and Rialto bridge. I had a special trip with my mother for our birthdays and we both really enjoyed this hotel. The rooms are clean, modern yet with a traditional accent, spacious and feel cosy like home. Not usual for San Marco to have such good-sized rooms. The... More

Arrived today and what a wonderful first day here at the Palace Bonvecchiati. My wife and I are celebrating our anniversary and the wonderful front desk attendant, Mariella made special arrangements to ensure we had a warm welcome and special treat upon arrival. Thank you for a great start to our vacation here in Venice.

I have to say very disappointed for the price and restaurant service. Arrived on an evening around 10 pm. Staff was not very friendly. Got to the room and extremely disappointed. Room did not look like pictures at all. Bedroom had a queen size bed and could barely move in the room. No view at all- only to another wall.... More

Palace Bonvecchiati is conveniently situated between the Rialto and St Mark's square. If you take a water taxi from the airport then get it to take you right to the door of the hotel on the canal side. Otherwise take a water bus to the Rialto and you can walk there in 5 mins. The hotel is richly decorated, has... More

We booked this hotel on line, took a private water taxi from the airport ($130), stepped into a lovely modern Venice hotel. Great nice rooms, perfect bathroom, and a delicious breakfast in a beautiful atrium on the corner of two canals. Lots of delicious little restaurants right out the front door. Front desk staff were just great and are champs... More

Great location, halfway between Rialto bridge and San Marco square. Very good amenities, nice room, extremely comfortable with modern design. Breakfast is not worthy of the hotel standard. Cheap, low quality, no varied. Avoid, any osteria in the vicinity will be better. Service is ok, but certainly neither friendly nor smiling. I understand that the staff in Venice may be... More

Great night sleep too. Shop around if front desk service is important. Only one out of six employees at the front desk was friendly, and helpful, the other staff acted as if we were imposing on their time, and just too much trouble for them to be bothered. We were told a restaurant we ask them to make resv at was... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
