perfect location - close to pl. Roma. Easy to access from the airport, railway station. Located in Sesttiere Santa Croche, far from the crowd and closer to the locals. Very clean. Nice Breakfast. Very nice staff members. Just a short walk everywhere includes the Voperato (Water bus). Nice wine bars and restaurants near by. I recommend this nice family hotel... More

It's always a pleasure to visit this tourist friendly city with its numerous canals and passageways. On this visit I decided to stay at the friendly family owned hotel - Locanda Salieri. Many reviews complement this convenient situated hotel just 5 minutes walk from the Piazzale Roma. Just remember to walk over to the public gardens (Papadopoli) which should be... More

This hotel lies direct near de busstation. You don't jave to carry through Venice with your luggage. Staff is very helpfull and speaks Englisch. Just around the corner a small cafe with delicious sandwiches for just 1 euro. In the afternoon and evening till 19.00 hours a wine for just 80 cents. Hotel is for the price OK. Breakfast can... The hotel is situated very close to all main stations for water, bus and train travel. So it was easy to get to. It is next to a canal and has beautiful views. The hotel is located near the train and the bus station and it is on a beautiful quiet canal. We walked to the Rialto and San Marco severals times, but it's also easy to take the Vaporetto to/from the bus station. Pay a bit more and get the room with the canal view. The room was clean with plenty of... More

Lovely hotel, friendly staff and great location! Room was very clean and each day we were provided with fresh bed linen/towels. Would certainly recommend. Breakfast in the restaurant next door was nice with a self service continental style approach.

Stayed in Venice for a night here.. Very good location. From airport took the bus service till Piazzle Roma, just 5 min walk from there & 10-15 min from the Santa Lucia termini. Rooms were clean & comfortable with attached bath. Besides the double bed, there was another 3rd bed in room. Bath was small but clean. Only disappointment that... More

We arrived from our cruise ship at 10am and got immediate access to our room, which was lovely. It is very close to the People Mover from the port. The weather was very hot and the air conditioner did not cope well. There was no safe or fridge in room. The bed was wonderfully comfortable and the bath very good.... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
