Hotel nice and close to the station, nice view of the canal from the window. If you are out most of the time and do not plan to spend much time in your room then this fits the bill. Basic but does the job. People on the front desk nice and friendly

Great location - only 250m to hotel from bus station but make sure you know which way to go. Room clean and comfortable - no lift but staff assisted to get our bags to 3td floor. Staff very friendly and helpful. Amazing fluffy towels and strong hot shower.

We stayed here in Dec 2014. The hotel staff was quite responsive in their responses via email. We came from Venice airport and took the bus. it was about 30 mins bus ride from the airport to Venice Piazzale Roma. It's about 6 Euro per person. From Venice Piazzale Roma, it's around 5 mins or less walk to the hotel.... More

I literally have nothing negative to say about this lovely hotel. I booked a canal view room and the view was just amazing. Situated on a pretty quiet canal it was so nice having the window open and hearing the little boats going past although it was silent with the window closed. Definitely worth paying extra for the canal view.... More

The hotel is very conveniently located and within walking distance of Santa Lucia train station. It's far enough off the main walkways that it stays relatively quiet throughout the night. Check in was quick and the WiFi worked great the whole time we were there. The furniture and decor is a little bit dated but when compared with the look... More

It is perfectly centrally located where it easy to reach all Venice's most important corners from. Staff very kind, they let me use their computer to check emails and print tickets. Breakfast was good too.

I stayed at Locanda Salieri with my boyfriend for two nights in October. The hotel was conveniently located close to the train station. The breakfast was good. Unfortunately, the actual room was quite disappointing. The furniture was very outdated, the room smelled musty and there was tons of dust. My boyfriend commented that it reminded him of his grandmother's house.... More

We stayed at this hotel at the end of sept 2014. One good thing about this hotel is its proximity (5 min walk) to train station and bus terminal; So you don't have to carry your luggage up and down the bridges.... The room itself was quit small and old looking. we were on the third floor. I did see... More

The location is great as it is very close to the train station. Nice view of canal from certain rooms. The breakfast was excellent ! The rooms and bathroom are small but the charge is quite high. Staff is friendly. One was not though. Refused us an extra pillow :-)

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
