The hotel is located near the train and the bus station and it is on a beautiful quiet canal. We walked to the Rialto and San Marco severals times, but it's also easy to take the Vaporetto to/from the bus station. Pay a bit more and get the room with the canal view. The room was clean with plenty of... More

Lovely hotel, friendly staff and great location! Room was very clean and each day we were provided with fresh bed linen/towels. Would certainly recommend. Breakfast in the restaurant next door was nice with a self service continental style approach.

Stayed in Venice for a night here.. Very good location. From airport took the bus service till Piazzle Roma, just 5 min walk from there & 10-15 min from the Santa Lucia termini. Rooms were clean & comfortable with attached bath. Besides the double bed, there was another 3rd bed in room. Bath was small but clean. Only disappointment that... More

We arrived from our cruise ship at 10am and got immediate access to our room, which was lovely. It is very close to the People Mover from the port. The weather was very hot and the air conditioner did not cope well. There was no safe or fridge in room. The bed was wonderfully comfortable and the bath very good.... More

Family run hotel within walking distance of train station. Three floors, no elevator, but I can use the exercise. Booked a single but got a double instead. Decent if modest breakfast compared to the crazy amount of stuff some other places are offering. There was bread, good cappuccini, cheese, soft boiled eggs, cornflakes. Really welcoming, delightful hosts. Finally I have... More

Hotel nice and close to the station, nice view of the canal from the window. If you are out most of the time and do not plan to spend much time in your room then this fits the bill. Basic but does the job. People on the front desk nice and friendly

Great location - only 250m to hotel from bus station but make sure you know which way to go. Room clean and comfortable - no lift but staff assisted to get our bags to 3td floor. Staff very friendly and helpful. Amazing fluffy towels and strong hot shower.

We stayed here in Dec 2014. The hotel staff was quite responsive in their responses via email. We came from Venice airport and took the bus. it was about 30 mins bus ride from the airport to Venice Piazzale Roma. It's about 6 Euro per person. From Venice Piazzale Roma, it's around 5 mins or less walk to the hotel.... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
