I generally never write bad reviews, especially on fora like these. But this particular incident needs to be highlighted for the benefit of other travellers. I wish to complain about this hotel's staff member in the strongest possible way. The treatment my friend and I got was HORRIBLE. I've lived in Europe for 13 years and travelled to 30+ countries.... In a eurotrip in 2013, booked with my gf for a hostel, and at the check in, in the hotel, they told me that i wouldnt stay in the hostel, but in the hotel. could not be better.Great hotel, great room, great location, just a 2 minuts walk for the train station, in the "main street" of venice.

I go back with this small-family-owned and run hotel to 1984. It's much better now, so much more Americanized after all these years. But truly, for an inexpensive room in this expensive city I like this hotel. And the owners are really nice and helpful....It's also clean.....but no elevator....UGH!! Hello dear friends....if you see this please say hello... Teresa &... More

The hotel is cheaper, 40€ per night. You listen when people walk near your room, so if you have soft dreams this hotel is not for you. They don't include the breakfast. They include 3 hours free of Internet, after that you have to pay for Internet (like almost any place in Venice). They show you the room before you... More

Stayed here in August and I wouldn't recommend. The staff were rude and unhelpful. There was a bathroom in our room that they LOCKED and would only unlock if we paid an extra 20 Euros even though our booking said nothing about this. The air conditioning was controlled by the staff, they turned it on the first night but then... More

I have so much to say about this but the main points are this! The staff is so rude, it actually shocks you. The big lady that likes to smoke at the front desk yelled at us when we tried to go to our room and demanded we leave key at desk. Then when we tried to check out the... More

The staff was very rude. The big lady even started yelling at us when we asked why there was only 3 hours wifi included (to share between the two of us). She was very intimidating. The airco had to be switched on and off by the reception. There were no TV channels. The hotel is and rooms are very old.... More

We didn`t expect much of this hotel, being the cheapest of our trip in Italy, but we were so wrong. The rooms are very nice and clean the staff is very friendly. The shared bathroom was very clean. We loved the fact that our room faced the busy street but we are a young couple. Maybe for older people it... More

This place is horrible, obviously is cheap. The hotel is not like the images, they stole my money. The internet is not free like they say in the hotel description. The guy in reception is always angry and they give me a bad service. In the night is super noisy, I cant sleep very well. Is a filthy place. HORRIBLE... More

This Hostel is perfect if you stay in Venice for a few days and just want a place to sleep. The rooms are clean and not too small, there is a communal kitchen and bathroom, a wifi hotspot and a computer and TV that you can use. The neighborhood, Cannaregio, is really quiet and there are not a lot of... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
