I cannot judge many things about this hotel simply because I didn't stay in it. But I paid for it. I arrived in Venice late in the evening, and at least I can say the hotel location is excelent, but that's it. Checked in and paid, and after that the guy just takes us out of the hotel and guides... Because of the handy location-easy walk from the railway station - I have stayed here every time I came to Venice. However, I will probably look for another hotel next year. I think the owners, though pleasant, have become a bit complacent. There is a relaxed & apparently friendly attitude, but not much Service, as such: Manager sitting watching women... More

The location was very close to the train station which was very convenient since we arrived at 2am. There was no AC which would've been okay except that our room was insanely stuffy. I don't know how or why but it was like 10 degrees hotter than in the hallway. We opened our windows but it was directly onto the... More

I spent a couple of days at this hotel. It is very conveniently locate near St Lucia Station on the most touristic street in Venice. I had a room on the rear side and it was comfortable, clean and quite. Price is very good. Staff is great. The owners are kind and ready to help in any way. I definitely... More

When arrived after reserving month ago they said they were fully booked, but they could send me and my husband to a another 2 bed one, that this was normal in Venice, after a while we took one of their near by friends room since it was this or no room at all, next day the hotel had a "vacancy"... For 2 nights in Venice, this hotel was more than expected. Very good location (few steps from train station) on main road, large clean room, clean bathroom and shower. I also liked the breakfast. I recommend it to everyone!

I generally never write bad reviews, especially on fora like these. But this particular incident needs to be highlighted for the benefit of other travellers. I wish to complain about this hotel's staff member in the strongest possible way. The treatment my friend and I got was HORRIBLE. I've lived in Europe for 13 years and travelled to 30+ countries.... I go back with this small-family-owned and run hotel to 1984. It's much better now, so much more Americanized after all these years. But truly, for an inexpensive room in this expensive city I like this hotel. And the owners are really nice and helpful....It's also clean.....but no elevator....UGH!! Hello dear friends....if you see this please say hello... Teresa &... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
