Big rooms, nice marble bathrooms, overall an experience worth trying in Venice. Hotel is next to a gondola station so accessible for water trips. Comparing with other hotels in Venice is a luxury hotel.

Absolutely beautiful rooms , wonderful breakfast included. Its right on one of the larger canals near the ca doro water taxi stop. Our receptionist saved our excursion to Murano island getting us a water taxi the last minute. Great shopping right behind the hotel, the open late and close early so if you see something you like buy it!! Definitely... More

I am writing this on the eve of our departure from Venice - just so I don't forget to write a review I back in the 'real world'. I booked this hotel at random as a joint 60th birthday trip for myself and my husband. What a gem ?! We have never been to Venice before so it was going... More

I just completed a couple nights at the Foscari Palace with my wife and 13-year old daughter. First the good: the location is great, away from the crowds but walking distance to everything. Easy to get to from the (crowded) public waterbus. I had a Junior Suite with Canal view, and the room was spacious with a great view. Breakfast... More

Service generally very good. Reception staff excellent and helpful. Room looked onto grand Canal so great for that. Room furnishings could do with refurbishment. Location great at Ca D'oro. Very central, just upstream of Rialto Bridge. Good access to all parts of Venice. Liked best was hotel situation, least that room was a bit dated.

We absolutely loved this hotel. We last went to Venice on our honeymoon 15 years ago (and stayed in the Hotel Rialto) and this time we had our 3 children in tow. To be clear, in the UK this would probably be a good three star hotel. And for what you pay you could get a decent-ish 5 star hotel... More

This was our first time to Venice. I had been a bit frustrated about the infrastructure and also had problems finding a great hotel. Hotel Foscari Palace is great. The staff is great, rooms are good and some of the rooms are huge (we had one room for four persons - we could have stayed 15 in the room). The... More

Great room overlooking Grand Canal. Clean room, although the jacuzzi bath didn't work. Breakfast was fairly disappointing. Staff quite glum and monosyllabic which was a shame. You need to go further afield to eat in the evenings as the surrounding environs aren't full of nice eateries, but that's ok.

Had dinner at this hotel. Great meal and very good selection. Special meals can be eaten on roof top area or on water level balcony. Great experience and would do it again, they also have a special dinner+river cruise, this was a great experience for only 40 euro per person. 4 course meal and cruise was for over an hour.

We stayed here in early July 2015 on a family vacation and had a great experience. The hotel itself is very nice, front desk staff are courteous and helpful, the rooms are modern and clean and actually quite large by European standards, and the location put us only steps away from a vaparetto stop. Within a short walk are lots... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
