This hotel is very well located and the rooms are massive! Breakfast is ok- not a brilliant spread but nice enough and the hotel staff are all really friendly. The hotel itself is quite dated and the bathroom was very small and not very clean. The views are brilliant and one of the best thing about this hotel is the... More

Very nice rooms, grat breakfast and Devina at the front desk is so helpful. The rooftop terrace has nice views and the hotel is handy to everything we wanted to do We would highly recommend the Foscari and truly enjoyed our stay

A lovely, clean and comfortable hotel. The superior room was large with a king sized bed and its own outdoor seating area with table, chairs and sun umbrella. The staff were friendly and breakfast excellent with a good choice of meats, cheeses, fresh fruit and cakes. A hot selection of food was also available. The hotel has a Grand Canal... More

I loved this hotel. The interior is beautiful, and the hotel is close to restaurants and nightlife. I also enjoyed that it was not right next to the busy area of the Rialto Bridge and Piazza San Marco. The staff was friendly and helpful. The terrace view of the canal was so enjoyable. I would definitely stay here again.

The Foscari Palace has been our base in Venice for four of our five visits there. Our most recent prior stay was spring 2012, this stay in mid-April 2015. The Junior Suite Gonzaga is our favorite room, spacious, and three windows on the Grand Canal (two are actually French doors onto a narrow balcony). The breakfast buffet gives us the... More

Great location, a walking distance from San Marco Piazza and Santa Lucia Station. We asked for a room for 3 and got a big one, with separated rooms for kids. Bathtub was a plus, after our days of walking around the city and all attractions. Breakfast was delicious.

If you know where you are going it is a easy 15 minute walk from the rain station. In fact when in Venice - get out and walk the streets, see the shops, meet the people. The hotel is situated right at the point of a ferry across the canal. And did I fail to say - this hotel is... More

This hotel is a 3 star hotel. The room was very large the furnishing new and old. The bathroom looked nice but was not cleaned well. It had a weird tub shower combo that was very narrow. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was good. It took us 15 minutes to walk to St.Marks square. There mattresses were... More

This was our 3rd visit to Venice and as it was to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary we really wanted a hotel overlooking the Grand Canal. After thoroughly researching many hotels we chose the junior suite at the Foscari Palace. We were not disappointed. The suite was huge, very clean and the view was amazing. We loved to stand on... My room # 102 was extremely disappointing: The room was dark, the view was on the wall of the next house only 2 m away, the shower was a tiny plastic booth, the vanity mirror was without the glass. This for € 290 per night - I would not go there again.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
