I stayed at Locanda Ca' del Brocchi recently with a friend. We had the small twin bedded room which was very small, but spotlessly clean. The beds were comfortable but narrow. The bathroom was clean, nice towels, soap, spare loo paper all provided. The breakfast was fine though not amazing, cereals, rolls, salami/cheese or hard boiled eggs. There was plenty.... More

Such a great location -- quiet but only steps away is lots of activity. Also an easy spot for rolling your suitcases from the Zattere vaporetti stop and plenty of restaurants and sites within walking distance. Very hospitable and friendly hosts, large room nicely decorated to look very Venetian, good breakfasts. Accommodation in Venice is pricey and we found this... More

My husband and I figured we might get lost on the way to this hotel (typical Venice), but we didn't anticipate getting SO lost at 3:30 am after our flight was delayed getting in. After wandering in the dark, we finally stopped by what we thought could be a landmark and called. We never caught the name of the man... More

A lovely, small, quiet hotel in the heart of the Dorsoduro area. Great for Peggy Guggenheim gallery and only a short walk from the Academia and it's vaporetto stop. We (2 adults and a 7 year old) stayed in the suite, which was perfect, the curtain gave our daughter the feeling of having her own room. The room was very... More

Lovely, Venetian style a few steps away from all main attractions. Room was so comfortable, spacious, really nice bathroom. Everything very clean. Small but sufficient continental breakfast. If we will come back to Venice this will be place to stay, again&again!

The rooms are very Venetian but clean and the bathroom was very modern. For the price and location, it was a real bargain. The only thing I didn't like, was the coffee....yuk...but 5 minutes away you can get a good one in a street... Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
