The hotel is located on a quiet and peaceful street completely free from the swarm of tourists that crowd central Venice yet still two minutes walk from the Guggenheim, a scant eight minutes from the Gallerie dell'Accademia and a pleasant stroll to San Marco. We arrived late, at around 9 p.m. and after usual reception hours, but Daniele was happy... More

The room is clean, spacious and well originally fitted bedroom. Great bathroom too. Friendly staff however a bit absence during night, however they inform you in advance (there isn't a 24 h service it stop at 6 PM). Breakfast should improve, as the industrial cake available or brioche was a bit sad to see. No fruit available but a tin... More

Tucked away from the crowds in a very quiet street. Still it is very close to both Zattere and Accademia (Zattery for afternoon drinks and Accademia for transport to other parts of the city). The room was very nice, decorated in Venetian style and the breakfast more than ok. A good stay overall!

When people post that this hotel is difficult to find...that's an understatement. Even with GPS it's very hard to locate because few streets/alleys have names. We finally stumbled upon it because a shop owner was able to direct us with a make a left and then another, then a right and look for an arch and then proceed past the... More

I stayed at Locanda Ca' del Brocchi recently with a friend. We had the small twin bedded room which was very small, but spotlessly clean. The beds were comfortable but narrow. The bathroom was clean, nice towels, soap, spare loo paper all provided. The breakfast was fine though not amazing, cereals, rolls, salami/cheese or hard boiled eggs. There was plenty.... More

Such a great location -- quiet but only steps away is lots of activity. Also an easy spot for rolling your suitcases from the Zattere vaporetti stop and plenty of restaurants and sites within walking distance. Very hospitable and friendly hosts, large room nicely decorated to look very Venetian, good breakfasts. Accommodation in Venice is pricey and we found this... More

My husband and I figured we might get lost on the way to this hotel (typical Venice), but we didn't anticipate getting SO lost at 3:30 am after our flight was delayed getting in. After wandering in the dark, we finally stopped by what we thought could be a landmark and called. We never caught the name of the man... More

A lovely, small, quiet hotel in the heart of the Dorsoduro area. Great for Peggy Guggenheim gallery and only a short walk from the Academia and it's vaporetto stop. We (2 adults and a 7 year old) stayed in the suite, which was perfect, the curtain gave our daughter the feeling of having her own room. The room was very... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
