The location absolutely can't be beat. Tucked just slightly away in a very busy area on the main Road running through Venice- you feel as if you are a local. Apartment was cute, enjoyed having a kitchen even though utensils were minimum. The bed however, oh gosh probably the most uncomfortable bed we slept on in all of our 34... More

Positive: Clean Neutral: Ground floor not too dark not too noisy Negative: we expect a hotel from the name but it's only a flat which is separated from another flat with an internal door which doesn't protect you from the neighbor sounds. Flat has separate entrance. Nobody was waiting us you have to call the owner when you arrive. Many... More

I booked this through expedia and received confirmation of my booking. I turned up to find that the owners had allegedly cancelled my booking although with no email notification of expedia or myself. With Venice full, i spent 2 hours wandering round venice at 10 pm eventually finding a romm at 170 euros, 2 hours on the phone with expedia... More

We took the Ca' Rubino apartment for four people, essentially 2 rooms. It is a renovated apartment with one master bedroom with Air conditioning, TV, dresser with drawers & closets. There is also a living room/dining room/kitchen/ sofa bed room, this "common room" has an Air conditioning (not as good as the one in the bedroom), pull out sofa bed,... More

Studio apartment in a quiet neighborhood. Apartment includes small fridge, stove, dishwasher, AC and TV. The accomodations only have a sofabed. Apartment is small, but comfortable (for 2 people). Only place we found in the city at a reasonable price. We reseved with credit card, but were asked to pay cash when we arrived. I told our contact to charge... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
