This is a budget hotel, remember that. The Location is good, but that's about all it has to recommend itself. The rooms are small but decent for Europe, and could use more recent updates. The bed, closet and shower seem like something from 1910. There is no TV(!!) so our recurring joke there was, "lets head back to the hotel... More

We stayed for two nights in September 2014. The location is within easy walking distance to the tourist attractions, and the train station. There are cafes everywhere and a bakery next door. The room was clean and neat and the bed was comfortable.

This more like a pensione. Some rooms have their own bathrooms. Ok breakfast, nothing special...very typical of Italy. Rolls and coffee. Staff is very nice. Rooms are not tiny. They are clean. On a relatively quiet street so you can catch up on sleep if you need to. We found a porter who brought us directly to the albergo so... More

We stayed in Casa Peron for only two nights back at the end of June 2014 and it was just perfect. Our flights were delayed due to french air traffic control having a strike so we did not get into venice until around 2am local time (which by then the hotel would have been closed) but I managed to email... We stayed at Casa Peron in Venice for 2 nights only last July 2014 , but enjoyed it very much. It is very close to the busses, train and people mover to the port so it was very convinient. The room was small ,yet it offered enough space for the 4 of us, my two children, 16 and 12 each... More

We only stayed 2 nights... comfortable room, personable staff! We arrived early on the train -- Casa Peron was easy to locate and only a 10 minute walk from the train station. We had a bit of luggage that was not fun to haul (steps, not ramps, everywhere)-- if I were to do it again, I would leave at least... More

Stayed at this hotel in June as a part of a Eurotrip and as it was a very cheap option we did not expect much. The hotel was overall very clean and the location was great with lots of restaurants and cozy places around the corner. The room we had was very small for three people though and the couple... More

We searched for an affordable hotel prior to our cruise departure and found one! Close to people mover and bus station. Very charming and quaint. Our room was large enough for the 3 of us to rest comfortably. We hade our own private bathroom which was convenient. The activity outside in the street was loud until about midnight but it... More

Excellent stay. Some people stay out of Venice to save a few bucks. But Venice is best at night when everyone leaves. This affordable hotel is quaint. Yes the rooms are tight, but it is Europe. They are all that way. Splurge for a room with a bath to avoid any issues. The hotel manager was friendly and attentive. Great... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
