We stayed in a junior suit for our 2 nights at Venice. The hotel is located at a center point where you can nicely walk around and it's a live area with lots of restaurants and cafes too. Room was comfortable and equipped with coffe machine and we had comp water every day. The only bad thing I would comment... More

I was not optimistic, at 260 Euros a night it certainly wasn't cheap but it was one of the least expensive options I found in Venice, so despite the great reviews I wasn't expecting much. What we got (a family of 4) is a wonderful little hotel in an ideal location at the heart of Venice, with luxury hotel standards... More

There are many things to like about this hotel, including the friendly and attentive staff, the great breakfast, the prime location, etc. However, I had an issue with noise that caused some amount of discomfort. I stayed in the small single room (#103) and could hear quite a bit of noise coming from the hallway, the room next to me... More

Just stayed here three nights bed and breakfast. Lovely old place with palatial rooms. Great value for Venice and about half way between railway station and San Marco so excellent location. Friendly, helpful staff made this an enjoyable stay. Highly recommended.

Great staff, excellent service, nice breakfast, free caffee and biscuits served all day long, well designed compact room ideal if you do not intend to spend time indoors, wifi signal sometimes weakens but it is the situation in Venice and good location too.

I recently stayed one week at the Ca'Gottardi while photographing Carnival in Venice. My room (a single) was quiet, clean and had everything I needed. The hotel staff were, without exception, extremely attentive and eager to please. They were willing to do anything that was within their power to make my stay memorable. I highly recommend this hotel.

Having visited Venice previously I have to say this is not what I was expecting. The entrance to the hotel is beautiful, a clean modern staircase and a fantastic warm greeting from our hosts. We arrived just after lunch time and the greeting area was being cleaned at the time, the staff stopped what they were doing to make us... More

We arrived at the Hotel via water taxi in the evening and the staff were waiting for us... what a fantastic welcome. Our room was 101 and was on the corner of the Hotel overlooking the pavement from one window and the canal from the other window. The room was on the ground floor but wasn't too noisy considering it's... More

Service was really exceptional! However the breakfast can be better. It will be fantastic if a walking map is provided to the guest. A detailed FAQ would be very helpful to the guests and efficient to the hotel.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
