My son and I stayed at Ca' Gottardi for several days in June. The accommodations and location were both great. The service provided by Benjamin and the rest of the staff was excellent! I highly recommend this hotel.

Our family of 5 had booked 2 rooms at this hotel for a couple of nights. We arrived & presented our confirmation voucher only to be told that sorry they had lost our booking & were full. It was so disappointing & very bad form by the hotel! They were apologetic & did provide an apartment stay nearby. It was... More

First of all. The staff were as friendly as any place I've been in the world. We had a lot of heavy luggage and they helped us manage up some stairs and then downstairs the next day. They also allowed us to keep our luggage there after we checked out for,the day. They were also helpful in arranging a water... More

We spent one night on the 15th May 2015 at Ca’ Gottardi. It was everything we had hoped for and all the staff was exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room (201 next to reception) was small (as are most in Venice) but very comfortable. The bathroom, although small was modern and spotless. Diego and Fabio were very helpful... More

I spent a long time finding a good hotel for my partner and i to stay for our romantic trip to Venice. I stay in lots of hotels with my job as a flight attendant, so i was extremely picky on what i wanted. I read lots of reviews on Ca Gottardi and they were all excellent, so i went... More

Friendly staff , there was nothing that was too much trouble. Right from the immediate responses to emails. To maps and suggestions. The rooms aren't a decent size but you have to remember in Venice rooms are not as large as in Australia. Airconditioning worked well and breakfast was of a variety of cold cuts cheese, yogurt, boiled eggs, best... More

We booked this hotel because of the reviews. No One mentioned that there are twenty plus stairs from street level. The air con in our room didn't work not one night of our three night stay staff unfriendly and unhelpful except for the two mangers they refunded money but if you can't sleep it ruins your holiday breakfast was poor... It's a must place to stay if ever in Venice! The staff, food, accommodations & friendly service is unmatched. I highly encourage a stay in Ca Gottatdi when in Italy!! The rooms are clean, the food is fresh and the staff is always willing to serve in any way. Stay at the Ca Gottatdi.

With so many hotels to choose from in Venice we fell upon this establishment by using trip advisor. Located within 200 metres of the Ca d'Oro water bus stop, it is easy to locate and get to with luggage in tow. We arrived early morning, way before official check in time but were greeted warmly and arrangements made to look... More

After months of searching for the 'perfect hotel' in Venice, I think I found it! It is hard to find a hotel that has nothing but good reviews and I realize that people are quicker to report fault, than outstanding service. So I allow for that. Ca' Gottardi, however, had all great reviews. Still I searched...and after weeks decided to... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
