We stayed here for four nights and were not disappointed. 15 mins walk away from Rialto. Rooms can be very small but you can expect that from Venice. Short walking distance from a few nice restaurants and gelato places. Would stay here again. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights and we simply could not fault it. The room was beautiful – high ceilings, view of the canal, very comfy. The staff were amazing – when we arrived they went out of their way to explain the nearby sights and made sure we had everything we needed. The hotel itself is... More

All I can say is this was the high light of our holiday.wonderful service , food, room was so tastefully decorated and you felt you had won the lottery. The price was amazing for the service and complete package.

...about where the room is located. We were in the Annex, which required us to walk down the alley away from the main hotel and up 3 flights of stairs (no lift). This wouldn't be a problem when the weather is dry but we were in Venice when the weather turned rainy, requiring us to slip down the alley in... More

We stayed in a junior suit for our 2 nights at Venice. The hotel is located at a center point where you can nicely walk around and it's a live area with lots of restaurants and cafes too. Room was comfortable and equipped with coffe machine and we had comp water every day. The only bad thing I would comment... More

I was not optimistic, at 260 Euros a night it certainly wasn't cheap but it was one of the least expensive options I found in Venice, so despite the great reviews I wasn't expecting much. What we got (a family of 4) is a wonderful little hotel in an ideal location at the heart of Venice, with luxury hotel standards... More

There are many things to like about this hotel, including the friendly and attentive staff, the great breakfast, the prime location, etc. However, I had an issue with noise that caused some amount of discomfort. I stayed in the small single room (#103) and could hear quite a bit of noise coming from the hallway, the room next to me... More

Great staff, excellent service, nice breakfast, free caffee and biscuits served all day long, well designed compact room ideal if you do not intend to spend time indoors, wifi signal sometimes weakens but it is the situation in Venice and good location too.

I recently stayed one week at the Ca'Gottardi while photographing Carnival in Venice. My room (a single) was quiet, clean and had everything I needed. The hotel staff were, without exception, extremely attentive and eager to please. They were willing to do anything that was within their power to make my stay memorable. I highly recommend this hotel.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
