My husband and I spent 3 nights at the BB Venezia during Carnival. It was very easy to find the place after getting off the vaporetto at S. Elena (Google Earth helped, too!). Our room was beautifully furnished, and we had a small balcony with a view of the park and the lagoon beyond. A light self-serve breakfast is available... More

B&B Venezia offers excellent value for money. I travelled to Venice for the carnival recently and wanted a large, attractive room on the island where I could relax away from the crowds and distractions of a busy life back home. The Garden Room provided the perfect, idyllic escape. Bright, spacious and designed with a golden Venetian interior, the room also... More

We have been visiting Venice every year for many years, and until we discovered B&B Venezia and met Roberto, it was always a headache trying to find a place that was friendly, well located, comfortable, clean, quiet and reasonably priced! But now we just book our flights and stay with Roberto and his family. In fact, we just came back... More

On my most recent italy trip i decided to use only bed and breakfasts and guesthouses as these many times offer much better service and amenities than typical 4 star hotels in italy. Well I was right this was a great choice.

LOVELY LARGE ROOM, BATH IS A TAD SMALL BUT VERY ADEQUATE. we run every day so the wide boulevards on the lagoon going to san marco make for beautiful scenety. Roberto is a retired school teacher and is so helpful and knowledgeable of the area. BREAKFAST... More

We stayed here for 3 nights and Roberto and his family were the perfect host - kind and always willing to help. They helped us translate the details of the vaporetto strike and booked us a lovely restaurant for dinner called 4 Feri. The room itself and ensuite were amazing and the continental breakfast was plentiful. Our beds were also... More

We stayed in this B&B for two nights and it was lovely. Very quiet location and all the locals that live in area were very friendly and helpful. I would say it's a 15min walk S. Marco Square but the scenery and exploration is well work it. The room was comfortable and clean, the breakfast was simple but great, and... More

We chose this b&b both for the location away from the busyness of the central areas and for the modest price. Roberto and the b&b family were welcoming and always pleasant and helpful. Our room was a good size, and the ensuite though small was spotless. Clean bedding and towels were provided regularly. Breakfast was continental and on a self... More

A place like B&B Venezia isn't what you could find by high rating or exaggerated reviews. It's quiet, cozy, comfy, just beside the beautiful park and people gathering around, chatting, jogging, playing soccer. It's not like a B&B but like home. Paolo and his mom were very nice people. The room is very clean and tidy, well decorated, though the... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
