This hotel was just what we needed for our trip. It was in a fantastic location very close to the station and shops. The room was a little bit dated but we did not mind this. There was a good selection of food at breakfast and the staff at reception were very helpful and provided us with a map of... More

Me and my husband stayed here for our honeymoon. Upon arrival we checked in smoothly. however in evening they asked us to pay extra money citing the reason that we had booked for one. However we reasoned with them and even showed them the booking and email written earlier to them which showed that v are on honeymoon.. To which... More

The only positive review I can say about Hotel Villa Rosa was it was just a few minute walk from the train station. The hotel website states they have with a "small, calm, private courtyard offering a cosy atmosphere coupled with attentive service", what they fail to tell you is that you may not use it after dark. We did... More

Dear guest, We are sorry for the not so polite way the night porter told you to leave the garden. That was because unfortunately some other guests complained about the noise. Although the garden is accessible also during the night, for the given reason we were forced to ask you to leave it around midnight. Smoking inside the building is... More

The location is good, near the train station. The hotel itself is okay. We had booked the hotel for two people and my daughter, who was in France, decided to join us for two nights. When we checked in, we explained to the girl behind the desk and she was perfectly lovely and helpful. She put us in a room... More

Dear Eileen, We are very sorry to understand that you were not satisfied with your stay at our Hotel. Infact we did our best to make your stay enjoyable by giving you a triple room instead of the double room you actually booked with a supplement of just 20€ in a weekend of high season and despite the Hotel being... The Hotel is in a good location, in walking distance from the train station which makes it very convenient for a first time visit to Venice when you are not familiar with the transportation system yet... The room was a good size, clean and nicely decorated. Breakfast was very simple, but all fresh. And as breakfast is not a very... More

The Villa Rosa Hotel was excellent for my first trip here. They are centrally located near the train station. The staff was excellent and their breakfast was very good. Mixture of Fruit and meats, cheeses. Really nice.

We had a really good time at Villa Rosa, the place is very clean, the WiFi works great (we had two rainy days and we spent more time indoors). The staff is very kind and helpfull (except for a grumpy old guy wich stepped on my nerves, but it was an isolated incident). I would gladly recommned it.

This hotel is located a short distance from the train station as well as Piazzale Roma. It was an easy walk and very convenient to the vaporetto as well! You are about a "block" off the main street and everything you need is within walking distance ... good restaurants and shopping. The breakfast is buffet style and has quite a... More

This lovely hotel acted as a base for our 5 day stay in Venice! The rooms are small but with large beds and a lovely style, they are immaculate and beautifully kept - such a bargain hotel and only 5 - 10 minute walk from the train station so if you're coming from the car park piazzale roma then you... Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
