The hotel is very nice and the rooms are beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable! But by far, the best part of the hotel is their incredible front desk staff who do everything they can to make sure you have a remarkable and totally enjoyable stay!

It is hard to rate this hotel. It is in a good location, walking distance to the main square and has its own jetty as well as being next to one of the public boat stops. We had booked a junior suite and we ended up with a relatively small double room with a staircase at the back taking you... More

Dear Guest, Im very sorry to read your review, your room was 305 a unique Junior suite with a tipcally Venetian Terrace called "Altana". For sure this room is not as big ad the other Junior Suite but is one of our best rooms as you can fell a real Venetian experience. Please if you do not feel confortable with... More

We stayed there for 4 nights during first week in Feb 2016. Its location is outstanding. Vaporetto and Airport water lines stop by the door to the hotel. Very convenient. Facility is very modern, clean and comfortable. Breakfast buffet selection was excellent and staff was very attentive and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

Celebrating my Wife's birthday, we arrived but sadly Air france lost her luggage en route. The receptionist's were constantly chasing the airline to locate and couldn't be more helpful, suggesting suitable shopping areas and places to eat and drink. They even upgraded our room and we had a most magical weekend in Venice. The Hotel position is perfect less than... More

The NH Hotel was for our 1 night in Venice. It is located at the water taxi stand. It is a 5-10min walk to the Square and 3-5 minute from Rialto bridge. You can actually see the bridge from window. We had a canal view suite and it was fab. The room was well appointed modern and extremely spacious and... More

We booked for one night at the last minute as we had to move out of our other hotel near St Marks. This is a very nicely renovated hotel right on the Grand Canal and just a few steps for the St Angelo vaparetto stop so super convenient. The staff, from the Manager downwards, are very welcoming and helpful and... More

Great room with a balcony overlooking the canal, recently completely renovated, very clean. Friendly staff, quiet location - so a bit of a walk to restaurants. Very convenient with a water bus stop (to the airport as well as local) right outside.

Our room was on the first floor with a balcony and Grand Canal view from the Rialto Bridge to the university. A modern hotel with good service, very convenient location right next to St Angelo vaporetto stop, in a quieter part of Venice. .

I stayed at Palazzo Barocci during a trip in December with my family. First, the price was reasonable, especially for a hotel right on the Grand Canal. I couldn't find a better value on the GC and I really scoured everywhere. Second, the staff at the front desk could not be better. They really went out of their way to... More

Our first visit to Venice and, landing at 23.00, waterbus would only take us to Rialto Bridge unless we waited another hour (even though the schedule said that it should go to next stop which we needed!). So with no idea how far we would need to walk we set off. Tall buildings and narrow streets means that Google map... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
