I chose this locanda because of its easiness to find from the airport, via the vaporetto. indeed it is a 5-6 minute walk, from the boat stop, with only a couple of bridges to negotiate with bagage. (also easy to find from the train station) the locanda is on a canal so the first sighting from this point is very... More

One of the best places I've stayed in Europe! I stayed in a 2 person room and it was decorated like a palace! Very clean, everything that you need is there. Ivan was incredibly kind and helpful and he was always making sure I was doing just fine. Very easy to find and close to all the sights by foot... More

As many others before us we went to Venice and other places in Europe for our Honeymoon and picked it by reviews from former guests. Hotel is a bit hidden in one of the small streets with a small canal on its backside. We had a great stay there with clean rooms and service as well. Breakfast will be brought... More

We stayed in the junior canal view suite for two nights at the end of our honeymoon in Italy. The B&B was easy to find and only a 3 min walk from the water bus station. The hosts were very friendly and helped us find the best gelato. The room was very large with two big windows and a small... More

We recently spent 5 nights at the Locanda Ca' Le Vele and enjoyed it immensely. Our room was spotless and large by European standards. We thoroughly enjoyed having a balcony that overlooked a side canal, where we watched locals go about their daily routines. The location was excellent - close to attractions, but far enough away from the frenzy of... More

The hosts were wonderful in every way. The location was very good and easy to find from the water bus stop. The breakfast was served in our room which is a very nice touch. The Railito bridge is a 10 minute walk.

This small boutique hotel in Venice was an absolute gem. Located in a nice quiet street but very close to main shopping & restaurants. The hotel was beautifully decorated, had all the modern conveniences you require and was very clean. Breakfast is served in your room & was a fantastic start to the day. The owners Ivan & Massimiliano were... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
