we were wowed by our hotel room, with its ornate decor and it was nice to have a fairly priced mini bar, but above all, the service and care from our hosts is what really made the trip. They were so approachable and were keen to share their local knowledge with us which really helped us to make the most... More

My husband and i booked the smaller suite room which was huge and beautifully decorated. The whole hotel was clean, the hosts helpful and friendly and our bed was very comfy. Breakfast arrived promptly to our room when requested, as there is no dining room. The hotel is in a nice area full of shops, cafes and restaurants and is... More

My husband and two daughters (ages 7 and 9) stayed at Ca' Le Vele for 2 wonderful nights. I have never stayed in a hotel that looked EXACTLY like the online photos!!! The interior room, bathroom, reception area as well as the exterior are exactly like the photos. It is an old wonderfully charming venetian building, but well kept and... More

Max and Ivan were wonderful hosts! Great location so easy to walk to local attractions. Our rooms were neat and clean. We were served breakfast every morning promptly at the time we requested. We would definitely stay there again.

My husband and I stayed at Ca' Le Vele for 2 days in October. Loved the location, the room, the breakfast, the view of the canal and the owners, brothers Max and Ivan. Also loved the hot water for showering!! Would definitely recommend this B&B and would stay again on a return visit to Venice.

We stayed for 3 nights in September 2014, we booked a basic room which was surprisingly large and sumptuous. The room was absolutely spotless, bed linen crisp and white, lovely venetian style furniture with Murano glass chandelier and bedside lights. The breakfast was more than adequate, delivered spot on the requested time. We were given jam filled croissants, bread rolls,... More

We were delighted with Locanda De Le Vele in every way. The owner, Ivan, was wonderful to us and so helpful. We are older women and he lugged our four heavy suitcases up the flight of stairs to our room. We didn't have the canal view other reviewers have noted, but the room was clean and charming. The WiFi worked... More

We stayed in this B&B and had the very large room with balcony. Room was huge and steps away from all the hotels in cannaregio which is an amazing area to walk and dine around. Hosts were very hospitable, rooms very clean and breakfast was served in the room every morning at the time we requested. We could smell the... More

A great location not far from the Rialto Bridge and St. Marks Square. Close to some great restaurants. Breakfast was great every morning, the best part was having it delivered to your room. Such a nice way to start each day. The staff was very helpful and kind. I can't wait to go back.

A fantastic little B&B tucked away from the main tourist spots, but still within easy walking distance of St Mark's Square (and many other parts of Venice!). We received a very friendly welcome, were allowed to check in early and given a lovely large and quiet room which we decorated in classic Venetian style. WiFi is free (although intermittent) and... Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
