We really liked Ca' del Campo. The location is great, just a short walk from St. Marks and not much further in the other direction to the Rialto bridge. Nice surroundings, spotlessly clean, fresh towels daily, breakfast included, unobtrusive but friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely stay there again when we return to Venice. *Tip*: Head towards St. Marks for... More

We stayed there for 5 days in August 2014. Our room on the 1st floor was lovely as was the bathroom. Breakfast was included and offered a superb selection of food and drink. The staff, if you could find them, were always helpful. The only issue was when we checked out we were told we had to pay a local... More

Not what we expected. There ate clearly two separate parts to this 'hotel'. One is accessed through the tradesman's entrance at the back where all the chefs smoke & speak on mobiles, wash their buckets etc. the other is accessed via the front door & elevator to the 4th floor reception. We paid a fair whack for 4 nights and... More

This hotel is perfectly located three minute walk from St Mark's Square and 10 minutes to Rialto. Lovely room. Stayed on second floor overlooking the street and the windows and shutters block out any noise so fairly quiet too. Would definitely recommend it!!!

Clean- safe - great location - good friendly service There is so much choice of hotels in Venice but being a regular traveller on business to Venice we have found this hotel to be the best in the 4star range. Very difficult to fault the location, service, rooms. The rooms are clean. The breakfasts are well laid out and the... More

We booked this hotel for my wife's birthday, I asked for something special and they provided some biscuits. I guess this is not the standard you would expect at other 4 star hotels but we just accepted that. The main problem we experienced was the room. Venice is very cold now, and our room had no heating or hot water.... More

Clean and nice, heated rooms (traveled in November). Breakfast buffet is okay, not great. The best room is on the 4th floor for the breakfast, but there's only little room. The hotel is in the center and close to most of the attractions. I can only recommend it.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 2 nights at the beginning of November. The hotel is well located between St Mark's Square and Rialto Bridge. We took the Alilaguna from Marco Polo Airport and got off at the San Marco stop. We found the Hotel quite easily. Walk through the square towards the clock tower, which is straight ahead... More

We booked 2 twin rooms for a girlie weekend in venice and none of us were disappointed. We were overwhelmed with the rooms allocated as both were large in size and had excellent facilities (odd hair dryer but once mastered works a treat). Staff were friendly throughout our stay and could not do enough for us. Ideally located close to... More

We stayed at this hotel over Christmas for a week. Very elegant hotel in the centre of Venice, not to far from the water taxis, Christmas is a good time to go, as there are few tourists and all the museums/amenities/ restaurants are open, contrary to comments in the guides! Extremely pleasant and relaxing visit. Recommend you have GPS activated... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
