We stayed here in the Residenza and it was lovely. The room was not massive but certainly big enough for the two of us. The staff were really friendly and willing to help, it is nicely situated giving great access to all major parts of Venice. I would stay again.

We visited last year for a romantic break and the hotel and staff were just perfect. The room was clean, comfortable and fabulous. Easily accessible and secure, and perfect location for St Marks Square and some fabulous shops

We are very happy with our stay, it was a satisfying choice, great value for money, amazing romantic location close to everything in the heart of St Marco and kind receptionists at all times. We really appreciated the fact that we tend to wake up late and we were thouroughly respected in this regard the full lenght of our stay.... More

Our room was very dark and cold. For a little bit more money, you can get a much better room with a private bathroom, in the same hotel. The shared bathroom area is very noisy. The location was good, with takeaway pizza right in front of it, and a nice bakery just some meters ahead. It is close to most... More

This was a great central place to stay in Venice. It ticked lots of boxes for a very reasonable price. A nice hotel room with a lovely Murano glass chandelier, clean bathroom, windows that opened for fesh air. A nice breakfast room with attractive decor (e.g. more chandeliers, french doors, old world charm). The service was friendly and the concierge... More

Really enjoyed the stay at Residenza San Maurizio. Location was easy to get to and more importantly easy to remember when getting back to the hotel. Was also more distant from the more touristy places so was a little more relaxed. A lovely little cafe was 2 buildings down Room facilities were good, bed was comfortable. A little noisy in... More

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in mid October. The location is near perfect and the staff was helpful. We were two traveling students and this room was perfect for us. It was not too expensive and having our own space was well worth it. We did share a bathroom, but it was always free. We stayed in... More

Fantastic location, fairly easy to find (by the standards of a maze-like Venice) and close to San Marco Square. We were upgraded to a stunning hotel room. The hotel was very clean and the front desk was very helpful. We did not try the breakfast as there is a bakery just 1 minute away!

I stayed at Residenza San Maurizio in Venice for one night in October. I booked my stay one night prior to my arrival and I was assigned the most beautiful hotel room on the second floor. The building is historic and resembles an old Palazzo, which is what attracted me - and I was not disappointed. I booked a "superior... More

We had three nights in this hotel which was conveniently located in a quiet square close to Vaporetta No.1 landing and only 5 mins or so walk to St. Marks and Rialto. Hotel room and bathroom were small but had everything one needed although there was a musty smell. The bed was comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. Would... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
