Was assigned to a suffocatingly hot tiny room that smelled like fish water and had no air circulation. Questionable stains on bed covers, sheets, and walls -- we should have known what we could expect after seeing our room down a 'maid's corridor' that was seperate from the nicer part of the pensione. Our room was probably a former bathroom... more

We are really sorry to know only from your review that you did not have a nice stay at our hotel. We think that the misunderstanding came from Hotel ( 1 star) and Residenza ( 1st class Inn). You did not make a reservation for Residenza San Maurizio. You reserved the cheappest room at the Hotel , 1 double with...

The hotel location is pretty good.. only few minutes from the centre and the vaporetto station. All major attaractions are walking distance and you don't need a vaporetto pass to see them! The only issue is that they have a 1 star and 3 star hotel in the same building; which seems a bit ackward. We stayed in the 3... more

We had a small room at the hotel's first floor, facing some walls of another house. Very clean, but very tiny and missing some important details (like a mirror above the sink). We shared the 2 bathrooms of the floor with other 5 bedrooms, and it was a little crowded especially in the morning. What you should really worry about... more

review for HOTEL San Maurizio Ill keep this brief. I was Embarrased to bring my girlfriend here. it looked so nice on the website but there are a load of rooms that are like prisons which you will inevitably get put into. Top floor - no lift, dark, musky, tiny, dirty with a mish match of box furniture - miniscule... more

We are really sorry to know only now that you did not have a nice stay at our hotel. Your complain came by e-mail after your departure. It is impossible for us to know that something is not working during the stay if nothing is said. Our staff is always at disposal for any problem can occur but solutions can...

Nice clean rooms and bathrooms. Peacful location but has very quick and close access to vaperretto and academia. Nice buffet breakfast. Tiny entrance to hotel so easy to miss it on your first visit. A great pizzeria right outside the hotel that sells fresh pizza ToGo. more

We went to Venice again this summer and found it absolutely enchanting, as usual, if a bit on the smelly side. Last time, we stayed at a terrible hotel, expensive and unreasonably adventurous in terms of comfort and service quality. So my husband and I were somewhat on our guard, especially because we chose the new hotel in a bit... more

We thank you very much for your kind review. We are happy that all was working well. Just a punctualization , You stayed at HOTEL San Maurizio (1 star hotel) . Next time comes at Residenza and you can realize the difference between the 2 properties.

Stayed in hotel San Maurizio for 1 night, having stayed at the much nicer sister hotel, Locanda Barbarigo earlier, but couldn't get a room again. San Maurizio was OK, expensive for what it was (like most venice hotels), and while our room was clean (if very dark), we got the impression that the rest of the hotel was pretty grubby... more

We booked this room because the hotel advertised nonsmoking rooms, hard to find in Venice. It was 80 Euros ($100./night) which is a rockbottom price for Venice. We arrived quite late at night, and discovered our room was a dump and the hall bathrooms gross beyond description. The next morning I told the front desk that the room was not... more

The confusion beteew the expensive room sand the cheap rooms comes because there are 2 different categories in the same bulding. Residenza San Maurizio ( Finely restored rooms with bathroom) is a 1st Class INN and it is a No Smoking property ( having fabric on the wall). The cheap rooms are located at HOTEL S.M. ( rooms with and...

We had a wonderful room on the 2nd floor facing the Square. The room was larger than expected . Large bath had a tub with hand held shower. There is no elevator but it is very common in Venice. The Staff helpful to recommend restaurants throughout the city and help with transportation questions. This small hotel is to be discovered... more
