When we booked this hotel we knew the it was basic. We had selected a double room with a shared bathroom. What we found was really shockingly bad. The room on the websites show light, spacious rooms but when we arrived we found a small, dank and musty room with very little light. Each time you entered the room you... More

We received a warm welcome at this very efficiently run hotel that catered for all our needs. The building is old and quirky and possesses real charm in a lovely area just a short stroll from Piazza San Marco and the Vaporetto stop on the Grand Canal

Hotel e Residenza San Maurizio is ideally located in the heart of Venice. It's only a few minutes walk from all the main areas but far enough away to avoid the crowds. It's only a short distance from the public boat transport so easy to reach. The rooms are nice and well kept - we had a junior suite with... More

This hotel far exceeded our expectations. One of the lowest prices in Venice to stay, with a perfect location, lovely rooms, friendly and helpful staff, and clean bathrooms. It was close to some amazing restaurants and cafes as well as to our gondola ride. Would definitely come here again!

We had a fantastic trip to Venice and Hotel e Residenza San Maurizio was very much a special part of this. We had a wonderful stay and hope to return again soon. The level of attention was more than we could have wished for. The rice charged made this excellent value for money and perfectly placed to explore Venice.

The Hotel has a very good position in the Center of Venice. friendly staff. We had two rooms - one was ok- triple room for single use. But the single room had a size of only 3x2 m, there was not even a chest to put the clothes , it looked worser than a prizoners cell. Both rooms cost the... More

Spent two nights at room 24B. Expect much more less than what you see in the pictures. Linen could have been cleaner as there were spots on it. Dark room, but absolutely silent. Bathroom could have more quality materials, again dark and small, the water sink did not seem to work. Lots of stairs up to the room and the... More

We have just arrived from 1 night staying here and all I can say is we wish we stayed longer, not to see Venice but to stay in the hotel another night. Location: perfect, secure, centre location and easy to find. When we checked in we we're given a map and must say the gentleman behind the desk was lovely... More

On our trip to Italy we stopped at Venice and we encounter the room not having Air Conditioning, when called the front desk they tell us the owner doesn't turn on the AC until June 1. When we were looking for a hotel we ensured to put AC as options. We are Americans and we sleep better in a cold... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
