The hotel was hard to find at first but then anywhere is in Venice. Our room was nice, nothing special but what you would expect from a 3*. Even though it's very close to a main street it was actually very quiet which was nice. The staff were all very friendly and the maid did a good job making our... More

Didn't like the hotel at all. The staff didn't appear to be friendly either. a 20 min walk from the station. I was there with two friends. The triple room was just a double room with an extra bed. Really small room.

I had room 101, a small single, en suite room. I loved it, it was clean and warm. I found the location great, on the main thoroughfare between Pz Roma and Rialto.....From Pz Roma, it's a direct walk, passing over 3 bridges in total. Just as you cross the last bridge, turn immediately left. Hotel is in the little alley... More

The hotel is nicely located close to the train station, and the main tourist hub of Venice is right at the doorstep. I had to go looking for the hotel after dark, and had no problem finding this hotel because of its well-lit sign visible from the main street. The room was clean, and fairly decent breakfast is available in... More

- Finding the hotel Venice is a complicated city. Arriving in the centre is like entering a maze. At daylight it is hard, but arriving at night is even more difficult. There are poor street signs, poor streetlightning and poor numbering. Luckely there was google maps and quickly I was on my way. Though after 30 minutes I hadn't found... More

I stayed with my husband for 3 days in this hotel and the service was bad. Employees are indifferent and the room was very small. Services were bad and the rooms need updating. Breakfast is poor. Instead hotel location is good.

Just returned from this small budget Venice hotel. The Eden is located in a small courtyard immediately off the main walkway in the district of Canneregio, but we did not experience any noise from the many shops & restaurants around. My single room was very small and basic but extremely clean. There was a tv with BBC world news, en... More

Very good service and very friendly but the rooms need updating. Dated decor and the bathroom had a huge stain on the floor. The hotel is located near the Casino and easy to access either on foot or by vaporetto. The price is typically venetian, high for low quality due to location. I thought we would get a river view... I booked this through the kiosk to the left of the train station and was told $60 euro for first night and €50 for second night.I stated only one night as I was given a noisy room above reception with air con that didn't really work and was very noisy and I was bitten around 20 times by mosquitoes-the tiny... This was our chosen hotel for a 4 night stay in Venice. It is in the Cannaregio district of Venice, about a 15 minute walk from the Rialto, and very close to the old Jewish quarter, the original and fascinating Ghetto. The hotel is tucked away in a courtyard, just off the main walkway, which was bustling with shops, bars... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
