Castello is a great neighborhood. Quiet, local, and close to St. Marks. Via Ghirabaldi is a great place to shop like a local, eat at a local restaurant, shop in a grocery store, etc. The staff is helpful, the rooms are ok, considering they are in Venice. Last hotel of our stay and the worst. Requested not to stay in apartment, but hotel desk manager paid no attention. Dark, dingy and needs lots of TLC. We have just returned from a two night stay at the Corte Contarina in Venice. We travelled to Venice from Treviso, the easiest and cheapest way to get there is to take the connecting ATVO Eurobus service. Was told initially 5* by booking company - it most certainly is not. First room we had was at the top of 4 very steep flights of stairs, chair lift to first two.
