My friend and I were so excited to arrive here. When we first got here, we thought it was out of the way but the location needed up being perfect. You can walk everywhere and are so close to all other transportation options. Staff was wonderful and room was clean. Breakfast was delicious! Wifi only worked in lobby

It was hard to find. You have to go between 2 building and take a left. You ring a bell and he opens it takes your passports and shows you your room. Room 203 is up 2 flights of steps. They do have a chairlift for both floors. There is a room for the breakfast. I suppose.. The guy at... More

Hotel room was convenient and clean. The room was okay but the tv has limited or no English channels. The staff members were very helpful and friendly 👍. The breakfast was adequate but prefer not to cold. Hotel is well positioned to site seeing, convenient stores and snack bars.

There are some positives here. If you are visiting the biennale it'll be difficult to find somewhere closer to both arsenale and giardini. It is close to vaporeto stops and the Main Street of via garibaldi has lots of lovely local bars and restaurants. The staff are polite and mostly helpful. However....our first room was split level with a dangerous... More

You get what you pay for. Hotel rooms are old with a small shower but clean. I believe the other part of the hotel had been updated. The walk to the main square is about 15 minutes away or more. Hotel is in the quieter part of Venice. One traveler said it was down a dark alley. Well most hotels... More

This place has copped some pretty bad reviews but overall I've been quite happy with our stay here. The situation of the hotel is quite good, 5-10 min walk from St.Marks Square, close enough to get there easily but far away enough to be quieter. As it is in a back alley though it was initially tricky to find. Our... More

This small hotel is situated away from most of the hotels on the island of Venice. It was difficult to find but once we had reached the hotel we were professionally welcomed. The hotel claims to have been recently renovated but our room still needed some further upgrading. Venice was hot during our stay and the room has effective aircon.... More

Whilst the location of this hotel is very good, and breakfast is fantastic, unfortunately everything else is a bit lack lustre. The bed covers, table and shower were dirty when we got there, and the wifi is practically non-existent. It appeared that if you were in a room in the same building as the reception it looked a lot more... More

Very comfortable hotel in an excellent location - 20 minutes stroll to St. Marks Square and far enough away to avoid the eye-watering cost of food and drink in and around the Square. The staff recommended three restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel for the duration of our stay and every one of them was spot on (still pricey... More

Its about 10 to 15 minutes walk from San Marco. We enjoyed the walk and preffered the quieter surroundings. Close to Arsenale taxi stop. Lots of restaurants and shops around. Breakfast not up to scratch.Wifi is unreliable. Staff quite helpful. All considered it was reasonable. Rooms were a pleasant surprise contrary to the reviews posted fir this hotel.

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
