Booked this through a agent, big mistake, arrived at the hotel staff pleasant and location good however the hotel is in a very poor state of repair, in our room we had damp on the ceiling, dirty curtains, skirting boards missing, paint falling of the walls, badly stained bath. This is a extremely poor hotel and the worst I have... More

I stayed here over bank holiday weekend and the location suited us perfectly. It is a stones throw from San Marco Square where there is lots to see and do. The room was adequate, the bed was comfy, nice bathroom. My only gripes were the lack of an iron or ironing board in the room or available at all in... More

Our first time in Venice (and Italy) so not really knowing what to expect. Hotel very well situated just off St.Marks Square: handy but secluded. Interior was a little dated but clean and functional. Good sized ensuite. Rooms cleaned daily. Breakfast was excellent as were staff who were very welcoming and helpful (especially Marcello!). Booked as package through BA holidays... More

stayed in room 105 and from the moment we entered the hotel we could not fault it. We were warmly welcomed and our room was lovely with one window overlooking the canal. Yes there was some slight noise from the boats but this is Venice and the boats are part of the charm and reason you visit the city. When... More

We chose this hotel mostly because of it's close proximity to St Mark's Square but also because of the good reviews it had received. Obviously these were written by people who stayed in far better rooms than us! The first room we were shown was very small and hot, the second was a little bigger so we accepted it, only... More

The Hotel has a good location and the staff is nice, but the building is in the worst conditions ever! (see pictures). This is not a 4 star hotel, at most, a 2 star hotel... My room had everything broken, the TV was completly usefull since you had to lean it against the wall so you could see it! Humiduty... More

This was by far the worst hotel I've ever stepped foot in. We reserved two rooms for our two night stay in Venice, one double and one single. From the moment we stepped into the "lobby" we couldn't believe this was a 4-star hotel. We thought maybe the rooms looked better than the filthy lobby- we were wrong. The single... More

Excellent Hotel from Location Point of View. Old Building, so expect some creaks and groans. Some rooms with Canal View at rear, although large barges are noisy if window open. General atmosphere of a 4 Star hotel, plus its own Canalside landing stage. Breakfast not up to 4 star standard however, Bar Happy Hour (including nibbles) gets the evening off... More

Like others, we booked All'Angelo with a British Airways holiday. We were delighted. It was very good value and, though you don't get a spot on the side of the Grand Canal (which is a huge premium in Venice), it is on a small canal with lovely, characterful buildings all around. Better still, you are right beside the San Marco... More

I cannot tell you what a fabulous time my partner and I had in venice, make sure you get a room with a window and view of the canals, It was just fabulous, rooms basic and expensive but for venice not bad as they are all old. Our room was big and close to San marco which is what you... More

Dear Lynda, I cannot tell you how pleased I am to read that you and your partner enjoyed your stay at the Hotel All'Angelo! Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
