Old palace converted into a hotel. There were no restaurants or eating facility in this hotel we had to walk down a couple blocks to eat breakfast at another hotel. The floors in the room were very sticky and we had to leave the windows open therefore lots of noise from the street. The hotel is in the midst of... More

It is more an appartment time building without lobby and common room. The room was okay, but for this also expensive. For paying you have to walk 5 min to the hotel Monaco where you can also have breakfast. I did not take breakfast there since expensive. This Palazzo does not deserve to be classified with hotels. Sorry!

I read all of these favorable reviews on Tripadvisor and was ready for a great time, but sadly that was not the case. To begin, the staff were so unfriendly, it was unbelievable. I thought the first guy was having a bad day, but when the second person came in to relieve him, it was clear that no one working... More

Excellent in every way. Very helpful staff. Room 615 (which we were lucky to be upgraded to) it is the room that is shown on this site was very spacious, huge 4 poster bed, coffee table and 4 chairs, excellent bathroom facilities - basin was in a separate room to the shower, bidet and loo. Took me a while to... More

If you intend to go to Venice this is where you should stay. You will not finds a better location at reasonab prices. A few steps from transport. You are at San Marco's Square no doubt. A very cozy hotel. You will enjoy the facilities of other great hotel, The Monaco.

Centrally located within walking distance to St Marks Square but without the price tag. Entrance is 'hidden' in the Ermenegildo Zegna shop front. Room service was excellent. Well provided bathroom and hot shower. Linen was actually linen and changed everyday. Breakfast was down the road at Monaco and was superb. Loved staying here and would do it again in a... More

I stayed at this hotel as part of a tour group through Italy! This hotel is a short walk from the Grand Canal and in a small alley area right behind San Marco Square (St Marks Square) Theres no check-in area but you can check-in at their sister hotel the Hotel Monaco and then head over to the Palazzo Selvadego.... I spent a lot of time looking for a good priced hotel in Venice and there were expensive and pretty hotels or the complete opposite. I was so impress when I found this well price hotel with perfect location, affordable, and not outdated. I booked without hesitate and we were more than pleased with it. We took the alilaguna from... I didn't know what to expect with this hotel. It is more than I would usually pay for a hotel room, but it was the cheapest hotel available on the date that I wanted to visit and I have no idea why. Nice clean room, very comfortable, I was in a single room so I wasn't really expecting too much.... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
