It's just a couple turns from St. Mark's Square, so very convenient. The entry way is incredibly small, but it does have an elevator. Stairway area does carry noise up to all rooms, but air conditioning and room accommodations A+. We actually had room facing down street toward water rather than facing a cement wall/building. No breakfast served here.

Loved this Hotel! It is a sister to Hotel Monaco which is less than a 2 minute walk away. Our travel specialist booked this hotel for us, and we could not have been more pleased. We arrived in Venice at 10am, by Water Taxi from the Airport to Hotel Monaco on the Grand Canal. We were weary after the long... More

The hotel was located quite literally around the corner from S Marco Square. The convenient location offset the minor negative of not having an onsite restaurant. The rooms were spotless and comfortable and the building was nicely decorated. Given the location, it is only natural that you might hear a little of the night life as you're drifting off to... We were here for two nights. Our room was very spacious, neat, clean and charming in the way it was laid out in three slightly different levels with two steps between each. The service was excellent, and it's location near ST Mark's Square and the Doge's palace is great. There is no food " on site", but numerous restaurants are... More

I had a fantastic stay here. I would highly reccommend it and definitely stay here again. It is very well placed to view the city and has easy access to the vaparetto. I must however say it was difficult to find. There are a few caveats and it may not be for everyone. Hence the few negative comments on Tripadvisor.... More

This is a subsidiary hotel of Hotel Monaco & Grand Canal - San Marco 1332 (one of the four best hotels in Venice). Viewing from windows are merely the very close exterior walls of next building, unmatched to the map location. Room is spacious and clean, quiet but sound-proof from the corridor is weak.

The hotel is a bit difficult to find owing to it being a smaller hotel. But the location is great, very close to St. Marks Square. The rooms however are better - a decent amount of space, nice and clean bathrooms and one of the windows offered a view of the canal. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised at... More

This is a small hotel part of Hotel Monaco which is very located close by. As all places in Venice, this might be a bit difficult to find. It's located right next to San Marco square which is a great advantage. The room was very clean and had a view of the San Marco square on the left and the... More

This hotel was initially very hard to find as the signage was very small so if you're staying at this hotel, don't expect to find a easy marked and identifiable building! We walked around the block three times and asked about 5 locals who had no idea where it was...we even asked local police and they led us to somewhere... More

So close to St Marks Square we could easily hear the Sunday celebration singing coming from the Square. Breakfast at the parent hotel was good as was the canal front dinner at the same place. The rooms were complete but quite small, and there are many eateries and shops close by. Stay for the location. Thoroughly enjoyed the personal romantic... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
