Recommended by a friend who stayed circa 5 years ago everything about this hotel met with our expectations. From booking to final check out we were treated to much courtesy and very good service. Hotel central- 3mins from St Marks Square but in a quiet street- (well 'pathway') with plenty of good restaurants and canals closeby. Also near lots of... More

"Recommended by a friend who stayed circa 5 years ago", "From booking to final check out we were treated to much courtesy and very good service"... Thank you very much for these words, your first sentence is our goal, your second sentence is our philosophy! Thank you again for your time and... for keeping recommending us as your friend did... We spent 2 nights here during a whirlwind tour of Italy. Before going to Venice I was trying to research the 'best' parts of the city to stay in. I was skeptical of staying so close to San Marco for fear it would be overwhelmingly touristy. But it wasn't. It served our needs well. The city is highly walkable so... More

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at this hotel and would not hesitate to stay there again. If all you want is somewhere clean and comfortable to lay your head after a day's sightseeing in Venice that's not too far off the main tourist area of San Marco then this is the place for you. Set in... More

I have stayed in this charming little hotel three times in last two winters when it is outstanding value. Although some rooms are small they are well furnished and spotlessly clean, the staff are friendly and the hotel is only a few minutes from San Marco. There is no lift and a lot of stairs, so travellers with heavy luggage... More

There are many places to stay in Venice, and we chose this one based on price and location. We not disappointed in either. It is central to all the main sights (although everything in Venice is in walking distance), especially close to S Marco Piazza. The room was the standard room, breakfast was the standard breakfast (thank you to our... More

We enjoyed this place immensely. It is relatively small but well kept and run by a family. It is right on a canal across from what was Mozart's house in Venice. Therefore there was a constant flow of gondolas with music playing going by our two balconies We got a huge room with a sitting room on the 3rd floor.... More

We have stayed in Venice four times over last few years and this find is the best yet. The location is excellent as only 4 minutes to St Marks Square and very near the typical touristy things but also easy to get away from the crowds and get lost in the back streets. We had a suite on the top floor... Thank god we had already downloaded directions on Trip Adviser otherwise we would have has no hope of finding it! There are almost no street signs in Venice. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very nice. Only two small negatives- there are no lifts so you have to negotiate several flights of stairs with your bags and... More

This is a sweet and charming bed and breakfast. It was clean and comfortable and had a nice little (modest) breakfast in the morning (I love fresh fruit and cappuccinos in the morning). The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is incredible, right in San Marco, close to saint mark's square, and the rialto bridge. Venice is beautiful... More

Before arriving at hotel mercurio I was unsure what to expect from the mixed reviews- but I loved it. All I would say it don't be put off by the reception, the rest of the hotel is a lot nicer- it's the only small area I would say needs refurbishing. But anyway- yes there are quite a few stairs to...
