Pack, jump in a taxi boat at Marco Polo airport and ask for Ca Formenta. You land at the hotel, you have booked room 406 and you will enjoy a breathtaking view over the laguna and San Marco. You are away from overcrowded S. Marco although at a walking distance from. The hotel is very clean and calm, people do... More

Very good place, good location, clean and friendly and reasonable price for Venice. A short walk from Piazza San Marco in one direction and the park / Biennale area in the other, which is also a more "real Venice"-like area, where local people actually life, not just hordes of tourists.

Situated at the Garibaldi street (which was once an open canal but was filled out by Napolean Bonaparte) between Arsenale and Giardini vaporette stops, where the crowds almost fade away, this small cute hotel is perfectly placed for enjoying the beauty and charm of Venice. The hotel has 21 not-so-large rooms 4 of which are facing the lagune with small... More

Arrived by water taxi to the hotel's private wharf. Excellent welcome. Had a small comfortable room. Avoid the ground floor bedroom as the canal fill right up at high tide. The staff are friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfasts but as the hotel is popular it is difficult to find a table for 4 which we were. The best rooms have... More

Nice hotel just a few minutes walk from St Marco. The area is quiet and free from the masses that spill from the cruise ships, which is very much a plus point. There are plenty of reasonably placed bars cafes and resultants literally within a few tens of yards. The hotel sits on Via Garibalidi which has at least two... More

From the very moment of arrival we were made very welcome and the room was exactly as requested with superb views of Venice. The breakfast was varied and fresh and the Via Garibaldi was great relaxation area at end of day.

This was a perfect hotel for our first visit to Venice. We were on the Grand Canal, but far away from the maddening crowds! There are tons of great restaurants and lots of great sights to see right around this hotel. It is steps from the water bus so it's easy to get anywhere in Venice from here, but nice... More

This is a really nice hotel at the front of the lagoon in a more quiet part of Venice, just 10 min walk from Piazza San Marco and a few meters walk from the vaporetto (water bus) stop Arsenale The Blue Line of Alilaguna will bring you directly from the airport or take a private taxi boat to the hotel's... Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
