For a 4 star hotel, it is not upto the mark. The staff is not friendly. They do not greet you. Rooms are small. There is no room heater. The bathrooms are awefully small in size. Location is good. The receptionist didn't issue me the receipt for the city tax.

We arrived a few hours early, but the staff accomodated us, and even upgraded us to a suite! Excellent service, free breakfast, and nice rooms made the stay perfect for us. Hotel Ca' Dei Conti had a strategic location, not far from San Marco's Square/Basilica. Definitely a place to stay if you are in Venice.

We had booked two rooms for two consecutive nights starting 20-06-2015. The fare had been paid in advance a fortnight earlier but to our horror, rooms were denied when we reached the hotel after the ordeal of a train ride, followed by a ferry ride and a brave walk amidst rain. They took our voucher, asked for passports and announced... More

We stayed one night at the Ca' dei Conti as part of our trip to Italy and France. We were welcomed in the lounge after finding our way from the water taxi stand on the Lagoon. It was more by luck than design we found it in the maze of small streets, courts and alley ways that constitute Venice. Not... More

Hotel Ca Dei Conti Venice My husband + I had our 1st visit to the beautiful city of Venice in June 2015. We stayed at the Hotel Ca Dei Conti for 5 nights. Prior to our visit I did read the reviews on Trip Advisor for this hotel and read many comments about the difficulty of finding the hotel so... More

As others have noted, if you want a larger room and easy access to the lobby be sure to get a room in the main hotel. Otherwise you'll be walking down a narrow alley and off a square to your room. This isn't necessarily bad, as the off hotel location is very quiet, but the rooms are smaller. We were... More

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel, the location was superb, the food was good, the staff were always courteous, and I would recommend this hotel to friends. But when we arrived in the evening, when we were shown to our room, we were speechless when we saw how small the room was. When I say small. I mean tiny.... More

This hotel was not far from St Mark's or Rialto bridge, but very hard to find. Venice streets are ridiculously confusing, and this hotel is seriously tucked away. It took us forever to find with our suitcases from the vaporetto. Maybe the hotel rooms in the main building are nice, but we were in the annex down the street which... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
