Me and my partner stayed here for three nights in August for my birthday and to celebrate our engagement. It's lovely hotel and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The room we had was beautiful, it was a good size with a nice bathroom and air con (which was essential). A continental style breakfast is served every morning and... More

This is the kind of hotel you have to enjoy in a city as Venezia. No for luxury, but elegant, great service and good breakfast. Do not expect a new hotel, his as an historic one, but extremely well conserved. The location to go anywhere in the city is great, and is very close to arrive from the ship terminal.

We stayed in one of the out buildings of the hotel and it was just a strange configuration as the bathroom was clearly added and the bathroom walls don't reach the ceiling. We are a family of four, which is hard in Europe so they had to bring in 2 rollaway beds. One was a regular size mattress and one... More

We asked the hotel staff to arrange transportation for us from the airport, and we were glad we did. We were greeted at the airport then driven in a large Mercedes sedan to our private water taxi, which took us direct to the hotel. Once we arrived at the hotel we were warmly greeted there. We did upgrade to a... More

This is a small nice hotel, the room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, there is a mini bar and a safe. The sink was quite small to wash face the teeth. I didn't like the breakfast, nothing special and not tasty, the only good was the cappuccino i asked special.

We recently stayed for two nights at Ca' dei Conti, finishing our honeymoon in Venice before flying home. We hadn't mentioned it was our honeymoon, but they must be mind readers as had upgraded us to a suite anyway! This was a lovely hotel in a fantastic location. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful. We also went on the Murano tour... More

The hotel is a converted 18th century residence and is only a few minutes walk (or swim!) to St. Mark's Square. The rooms are small like most hotels in Venice, but it was clean, quiet, and the staff was helpful. Not certain what constitutes a 4 star hotel in Venice, but it is pleasant enough.

Wonderful hotel stay. Be certain you get a private transfer from the Venice Airport to the hotel. It is seamless and worth the money. The hotel can set you up with a transfer. The hotel itself is lovely-on the corner of a canal. Wonderful terrace and rooms. Hotel staff very accommodating. We stayed in the 'Blue Room' (triple) and it... More

Just a few steps away from the next pier which is handy for those who come from Marco Polo airport. Dragging luggage around Venice is never a good experience. Tradicionally decorated room but very big, quiet, clean and romantic. Our children stayed in one piece and my husband and I in the other. Two TVs, comfortable beds, plenty of towels.... More

We arrived at 10:30 PM. The rain started as soon as we got off the water-bus. With kids and luggage we looked for our hotel. Once we found it we were taken to a building in front of the lobby building. A first floor apartment was waiting for us. It was beautiful. We were very pleasantly surprised. The AC worked... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
