Upon arrival we were greeted by a lovely gentleman who assisted us with our luggage up the stairs. There is no lift, but that's to be expected-it's Europe after all. There is a very simple continental breakfast with not a lot of variety, but they do offer strong coffee which was comforting. The situation of the hotel is close to... More

The stay was very comfortable. The important landmarks and water boat station are close by. The room was spacious with beautiful rich decor. For the amount paid, it was worth. We were two couple and shared the suite with adjoining rooms and a shared bathroom.. Nearest landmark is Rialto bridge so that market and restaurants are near by. The breakfast... More

we felt home: got a bedroom (king size bed) plus a smaller attachment for our daughter clean room and rather new bathroom served breakfast enough to fill you up: rolls, cheese, jam etc. most important: location only 5 min walk to Rialto bridge as well as to the next vaporetto stop (boat landing) you are surrounded by restaurants, shops and... Two friends shared the suite with adjoining rooms and one shared bathroom. Rooms were spacious if a little sparsely furnished. Bathroom was small but functional and the beds were comfortable. The location is great with the guest house well positioned for the Rialto Bridge and easy walking distance to everything of interest in central Venice. Plenty of nice local restaurants... More

The hotel is nicely central, an easy walk or quick Vaporetto trip from the Rialto bridge, but in a quiet side passage with a picturesque private pier. The staff were friendly and helpful. They even provided gluten-free crispbread for my young celiac daughter at breakfast -- maybe not as enticing as the regular bread and croissants, but it was nice... More

I stayed here with 2 friends and we had 2 big rooms with a washroom. The place is very clean and has friendly staff. The rooms have a good view and the beds were comfortable. It's very close to the Rialto Bridge and easily accessible by the the water bus. The breakfast is included in the price and is quite... More

The directions the hotel sent us worked out fine in regard to finding the hotel. But there is a Vaporetto stop closer to the hotel, Silvestro instead of Rialto Merchado. We had a room with a view down a alleyway which went to the Grand Canel. There was a private dock thee is you wanted to use a private water... More

My partner and I stayed in this guest house at the end of April. Although only a few seconds walks from a busy lane of lovely shops the hotel is down a nice quite lane. The rooms and bathroom was clean and we had good nights sleep there. There is a private jetty within a very short walk from the... More

The Good: AC, friendly help at the desk, nice breakfast (cold cuts, breads, jams/jellies, coffee, yogurt, juices, cereal), excellent internet connection and speed (we were even able to FaceTime with family back home), quiet area of town The Bad: some rooms supposedly have good views, but ours didn’t at all, fairly expensive place to stay (but in my opinion, it's... We had a little trouble finding this place -- but there is no hotel in Venice I haven't gotten lost searching for! Once found, it was a quiet, convenient location. The staff were all quite helpful. The room was small but sufficient -- bathroom was up to date. The A/C struggled a bit and the bed was not the most... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
