We had a 3 night stay in a standard twin room in Ca Arco Antico in October. Undoubtedly, having read through other reviews, our room was one of the smaller available. There was no gap between the 2 beds, which were smaller than a normal single size, obviously converting into a double as required. The view from our window was... More

This is an old-fashioned, beautifully furnished B and B in the buzzy San Polo district about two blocks back from the Grand Canal. We had the Canaletto room which has a balcony with a view of the Canal, limited but enough to see the sun glittering on the water and boats passing which is a great view to wake up... More

This is a B&B or guest house, not hotel. But you have of course your own bathroom, and a very spacious room. Bathroom is small and kind old. Old look is good in venice, but only for decoration. Here you can see some problems with few things like shower door not sliding easily, etc. A renovation will be nice keeping... More

Perfect location in Venice very close to the Rialto bridge. There was a Vaporetto stop very nearby so getting around was very easy, even with luggage. The staff was extremely helpful and couldn't be more accommodating. The breakfast was light, as are most in Italy, and of course the coffee was excellent. We feel that staying in a B&B is... More

Ideal location. Near to Rialto bridge and good restaurants. Room was fine. Nothing fancy but excellent value. Staff were really friendly and helpful with good language. The hotel was quite hard to find so make sure you read their instructions on locating it first! I would definitely recommend this.

We booked a room that slept our family of 4 - not so easy to find! Wonderful stay, had fun finding the place (as with all places in Venice) and the concierge had great recommendations for restaurants and advised us to take trip the Burano ... which ended up being one of the highlights of our visit. Highly recommended for... More

Such a great location in San Polo meant that everything was well within walking distance, just a few minutes from the Rialto and lovely, traditional, spacious rooms. Our hosts were so friendly and helpful, would definitely recommend as a great central location and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Some fabulous Osteries right on the doorstep too.

Stayed 2 days in May 2015. Ideal location for us as quiet location but just a few yards to busier streets. Desk staff very helpful. Room and shower room were a good size for a central Venice location where space is obviously at a premium and also very clean. Fortunately our room (Canaletto) looked out down above a narrow walkway... More

Upon arrival we were greeted by a lovely gentleman who assisted us with our luggage up the stairs. There is no lift, but that's to be expected-it's Europe after all. There is a very simple continental breakfast with not a lot of variety, but they do offer strong coffee which was comforting. The situation of the hotel is close to... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
