This hotel is located just off St Mark's Square and I could not have asked for a more central location. View of gondolas and the canal from our room. Absolutely perfect! Double bonus of being close to our hotel bathroom facilities when sightseeing, public rest rooms in Venice are often quite a hike. Sleep: -Darkness: The room was sufficiently dark... More

The only plus is that it is 2 steps away from San Marco. Besides that, it's an expensive dump. The rooms are smaller than most college dorm rooms, the carpets old (and extending up the walls!), wifi not free and doesn't work well, bathrooms old and dingy, and hotel staff ineffective. If you are looking for a place to drop... More

We were booked to stay here for 8 nights, the staff were pleasant and room nice however after two nights I noticed some red marks on my skin and on the third day many very itchy swollen welts, I went to the hospital in Venice the next day and the doctor informed me it was bed bug bites, my daughter... We would like to answer to the guest with the following question: Why the client didn’t want to verify together to the Manager, Housekeeping, the staff that was present at that moment, that inside the room there were not signs and neither presence of bed bags? The room was dismantled and inspected by seven persons. The Manager ask a few... More

If location is most important to you this is the place to stay. If comfort is important however this is not the place to stay. The rooms are well cleaned but the rooms and bathrooms are small and the beds not particularly comfortable. The rooms are very noisy from both street noise and people in neighbouring room. This was by... More

Excellent localization ( extremely close to Piazza San Marco), several restaurants nearby, highly recommended. Staff was very attentive, free wi fi that worked very fine in the room. You can get a gondole almost at the hotel door.

We stayed here for our honeymoon and the room/hotel itself was nothing special or romantic. It was a basic room with a nice view overlooking a little corner of inner Venice which was a little noisy at times but not too bad. The bed was pretty uncomfortable but most beds in Italy are. It had everything we needed to can't... More

It is a bit difficult to find since it was my first visit in Venice and there was no street names but really, it is just 50 steps from Plaza San Marco... make sure you get it located on a map before you go... the hotel is perfectly located, breakfast buffet offer a large variety of food in a large... Room clean, and collected everyday well. Reception is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is poor, no dinner is available in the hotel. Minibar is expensive. Location is very close to San Marco Square, just turn right cross the short bridge and you are there. WiFi is free. Bathtube in my room was relatively small, and the water sometimes was too cool... Clean but small rooms. Great service and location. Loved having breakfast overlooking the canal and having a few drinks on the balcony after a big day of sight seeing. Beautiful hotel in the heart of Venice. Would stay again.

We were only in Venice for one night before a cruise, and we wanted to stay near San Marco. We chose this hotel based on location, availability, and fairly good reviews. We took a water taxi from the airport and got off at the San Marco stop. It took about 10 minutes to find this hotel on foot, and we... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
